WhatsApp: How to Send the Highest Quality Videos and Images

WhatsApp: How to Send the Highest Quality Videos and Images

March 1, 2022 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

You send pictures and videos on WhatsApp because you like how safe the app keeps them. But, the idea of your files losing quality isn’t all that appealing. WhatsApp has a limit of 16MB, but even if your file is not that big, WhatsApp will still compress it.

But, WhatsApp has different limits regarding file sharing regarding the type of media. If you send a video or a picture as a document, then the file limit reaches a maximum of 100MB. That’s much better when you have to send those types of files. But, how to send a video or a picture as a file? Keep reading to find out.

How to Avoid File Compression on WhatsApp

When you want to send a file on WhatsApp, you tap on the paperclip icon and go to the gallery, right? The next time you do that, don’t tap on this option but instead tap on the Document option.

WhatsApp Send Document

Once you tap on the document icon, you’ll need to browse through your files to find the video or picture you want to send. Once you’ve found it, tap on to and tap on the send option. You’ll see that the video or picture will appear on the WhatsApp chat the same way as if you sent it like you always did.

WhatsApp Send Files

There will be one difference, though. The file won’t be compressed, and the video or image quality will not suffer. Something else you can do to share a video that may be too heavy is to share the link where you have it saved. For example, let’s see how you can share a Google Drive link on WhatsApp and not deal with size limits and compression.

Google Drive

To share the link of a file using WhatsApp, you’ll need to go to Google Drive and find the file you want to share. To the right of the file, you’ll see three dots. Tap on the dots and choose the copy link option.

Google Drive Share

Once the link is copied, go to WhatsApp, where you want to share the file, and paste the link. When the other person is ready, they only have to tap on the link, and they will be taken to the file automatically. That way, they can see the image or video in the quality you want them to see it.

Conclusion

If you usually send videos or pictures bigger than 16MB, then sending the file as a document will come in handy. Instead of tapping on the gallery option, you tap on the document options and look for the image. Do you frequently send large files on WhatsApp? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and don’t forget to share the article with others on social media.
