Enable Dark Mode in Gmail with These Simple Steps

Enable Dark Mode in Gmail with These Simple Steps

May 4, 2022 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

If you’re the type of person who likes to have all their apps in dark mode, you’ll be happy to know that you can do the same with Gmail. Dark Mode is an excellent option if you don’t feel like changing the wallpaper from time to time. You won’t waste time deciding which wallpaper you feel like looking at for the next few weeks.

How to Switch to Dark Mode in Gmail for Web and Android

Since you don’t always use Gmail on your computer and vice versa, here is how you can enable dark mode on mode devices. If you’re going to access Gmail from your computer, sign in to the Gmail account where you want to apply this change. Once you’re in, click on the cogwheel at the top right and go to See all settings.

Or, if you prefer, you can all click on the See all themes option towards the bottom. Once you’re in Settings, scroll down a little, and you’ll come across the solid color themes. The second option will be the black theme.

After choosing the black theme, click on the blue Save button to apply it. That’s it! Now your Gmail will match all the other apps that you already have in dark mode.

Android

Now it’s time to add Dark Mode to Gmail on your Android device. Once you’ve opened the app, tap on the three-lined menu and go to Settings > General Setting. Tap on the Theme option at the top, and from the listed options, choose the Dark Theme.

If you ever get tired of dark mode, you can follow the same steps to switch back to light mode. But, the dark mode does have its advantages since it’s better for low-light settings. If you can’t sleep at night, dark mode will help keep the lights low, so you don’t wake anyone else up.

There will also be less blue light coming to your eyes. It’s this blue light that’s responsible for keeping you up at night. So if you can’t sleep because you’re worried about something, the blue light isn’t going to help you go back to sleep. It will also make your Android device use less power, which means your battery will last longer. Sure, the dark mode might make some text dark to read, but you’ll jump that bridge when you get to it.

Conclusion

Dark Mode is a feature that every app out there should offer. Gmail is one of those apps, so why not take advantage of the option since it helps in many ways.
