The Oculus quest 2 VR headset is a great standalone VR experience for which you don’t need a powerful gaming computer. You do, however, need to link your Quest 2 with the Oculus smartphone app, for which you’ll need either an Android 5.0+ or iOS 10+ smartphone or tablet.
If you don’t have one of these handy, you will need to either get or borrow one to set up your VR headset. You will also, unfortunately, need a Facebook account; if you’ve preferred to stay away from Facebook until now, you will have to give that up to use your Quest 2.
The first step is to install the Oculus app on your smartphone; it can be found for free on Google Play or in the App Store. Once you’ve installed the app, sign in with your Facebook account, or create one if you need to.

First-Time Setup
If you’ve already got an account set up and are just pairing a new phone, you can ignore the first-time setup section. If this is your first time, however, you will need to follow these steps too.
Once you’re signed in, you’ll be asked to create a VR profile. Tap continue, then edit your username and add a profile picture if you want to. Once you’re done, tap “Continue” again.
The next page covers the privacy settings. None of your Oculus activity will be shared to Facebook without you explicitly doing so; however, you can still choose your preferences for your Oculus friends. The first option will allow you to configure who will be able to see your Oculus activity.
The second allows you to choose who will be able to see your Facebook name on Oculus. Tap “Continue” once you’ve configured the privacy settings to your preference, you can always change them later.
Tip: If you’ve created your Oculus account with a pseudonym, this setting can let other users see your real name as it is on Facebook.

The next stage allows you to specify some interests, which will be used to advertise Oculus games to you. Either select one or more categories and tap “Continue,” or tap “Skip.”
Tip: You may also need to create a store PIN and add payment information so you can purchase games from the Oculus store.
Pairing with Your Quest 2 Headset
The next page allows you to select which Oculus headset you have and tap the “Quest 2” option. You’ll need to ensure that your phone and headset are connected to the same Wi-Fi network for this to work. You’ll also need to check that your phone has Bluetooth enabled and that your headset is switched on. Your phone will attempt to automatically identify and pair with your VR headset.
If your phone can’t automatically pair with your Quest 2, you’ll need to get the pairing code from your headset. Just put the headset on, and you should see the five-digit pairing code on display. Enter the code on your phone to complete the pairing process. If the pairing process worked automatically, however, just tap “Close” to complete the process.

The Quest 2 VR headset is a great VR gaming option that doesn’t require a powerful gaming computer. It does, however, need to be paired with a smartphone. By following the steps in this guide, you can pair your headset to your phone and step into virtual reality.

I’m trying to put the oculus on the TV and am going thru the app on my phone. They say they are connected And it asks for a 5 digit code but it gives me 6 digits on the screen. I cannot figure this out. It won’t let me cast
´Marek Doubek says
For everyone asking where the code is or how to pair it, you can only have one device paired so you cant find it because its already paired to another phone. You must unpair it first.

I have one phone connected up fine and can cast etc. but a second phone says its paired in the settings /bluetooth but the app keeps prompting me to pair the heaset. All working on that phone except I can not. cast. I went to blue tooth and used forget headset on phone deleted app and reinstalled it. Never seen 5 digit code once but when the app asks for it I click arrow back at top try again then eventually it says its found code automaticly but app then gets stuck with circle whirring round., close app and the phone says connected but app says not as nothing in devices. Grrrrrr all very frustrating.

I am having the same problem as a lot of these folks -unsuccessful pairing since Dec. 25 and it has become extremely frustrating for myself and my children. I’m at risk of admitting myself to the Betty Ford clinic if Oculus can’t help us out with MULTIPLE issues.

You have to make sure that the headset is on in order to see the code. Press the power button on the right-hand side of the headset for 2 seconds

We’re having the same problem trying to re-pair it with our phone and the code is not showing up. Why are there no answers to these questions, because what is the point, then? If we’re not supposed to have answers, then please make that clear on here.
