Google Sheets: Remove Formatting From Cells

Google Sheets: Remove Formatting From Cells

November 20, 2019 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

Removing existing formatting from cells in a Google Sheet can be done very quickly! It’s a two-step process.

First select the cell or cells you want to clear from all formatting, then click on the Format tab at the top and select the Clear formatting option.

Clear Formatting

You can either do this for individual cells, for multiple ones by holding down Ctrl and clicking on each cell, by dragging your mouse to mark a range, or by pressing Ctrl + A to mark your entire document. Whatever selection you may want to make – once all the cells are marked, simply click the Clear formatting button and you are done! Please be aware that removing formatting will not remove bullet point symbols if they are part of your text – ones added by a bullet function like in Google Docs or Microsoft Office will be removed automatically.
