Many Chromebook users rely on Microsoft Teams to attend online classes or simply chat with family and friends. You can download the app from the Play Store, install it on your ChromeOS laptop and instantly join online meetings. Unfortunately, Teams may not always work as intended. If the app is not working correctly on your Chromebook, pursue the troubleshooting solutions below.
What to Do If MS Teams Won’t Work on Chromebook
The troubleshooting steps you need to follow depend on the Teams version you’re using. For example, if the desktop app won’t work, chances are the web app will work just fine. If you’re in a hurry, you can use this quick workaround to access your account.
If Microsoft Teams won’t work on Google Chrome, make sure to:
- Update your browser to the latest version
- Enable third-party cookies for Teams
- Clear the cache
- Disable all of your browser extensions
- Reset Chrome
- Uninstall and reinstall the browser
On the other hand, if the stand-alone Microsoft Teams app won’t load or specific features are unavailable, follow the instructions below.
Check Your Date and Time Settings
Make sure your date and time settings are correct. If they’re not, the Microsoft Teams servers will block your connection request.
- Go to the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, and select the time icon.
- Then click on Settings, and scroll down to Advanced.
- Go to the Date and time section, and select Time zone.
- Then select Set automatically.
- Restart your laptop and relaunch Teams.
Additionally, make sure to update Teams to the latest version.
Reinstall Teams
Check if reinstalling Teams solves the problem. First, you need to uninstall the app from your computer. Then restart your device. Launch the Play Store App, search for Teams, and download a fresh copy of the app. Install it, and check the results.
Contact Your IT Admin
If your Chromebook is managed by an organization, contact your IT admin for further help. They may have set up specific settings to prevent users from installing Teams and other similar apps.
Conclusion
If the Microsoft Teams desktop app won’t work on Chromebook, check for updates and let your laptop automatically et date and time settings. If the web app is not working, update your browser, clear the cache, and enable third-party cookies for Teams. Did you find other ways to fix this issue? I’m have the same problem. I can see and hear others in the Teams Call. I can be heard from the other participants, but my camera image is not broadcast. Zoom Meetings work just fine.
This started a couple of weeks ago. It used to work just fine. My IT Dept tried to fix it and gave up after many hours of work.
Is there a fix for this?

We are suddenly getting the same problem as Hendri says above. It thinks we are on a separate device (we are not), we can hear audio and see the chat but not the main teams shared display. Happened on my daughters computer on a few days ago, my sons now. Both had been working fine for months (year++?)

I am able to join the meeting however main window is not appearing. That means, I am able to hear however not able to see the window where screen is shared. This issue started today may be due to the fact that I updated my chromebook last night.
