DJVU (pronounced déjà vu) files are an image format intended for use with scanned images or documents. DJVU was created to perform a similar role to PDF documents, as a way to store and share scanned documents. DJVU allows images to be compressed but remain at high quality, by splitting the image up into many different images and compressing those independently. DJVU files can alternatively use the DJV file extension.
How can you open DJVU files?
DJVU is an open standard, but not every document viewer can read them. Downloadable software and online tools are available to convert DJVU into other eBook, image or document formats such as EPUB, PNG, and PDF.
What programs work with DJVU files?
SumatraPDF is a document viewer for windows that can open DJVU files, Evince and Okular are alternative viewers for Linux distributions. Docspal is an online viewer that does not require a download and works regardless of the operating system. DJVU2PDF.com is an online converter to convert DJVU files to PDF.
