If you get hundreds of messages on Microsoft Teams every single day, bookmarking the important ones is crucial. Otherwise, they’ll get lost in all that noise. If you need to revisit old messages to verify some task instructions or pieces of information, you can quickly go to your bookmark section.
But things can be a bit confusing. This is because the bookmark feature is not labeled as such in Microsoft Teams.
Steps to Bookmark Messages on Microsoft Teams
- Hover your mouse cursor over the message you want to bookmark.
- Click on More options (the three dots).
- Then click on Save this message.
To review the messages you saved, click on your profile picture and select Saved.
⇒ Note: If another user deletes the message you bookmarked, Teams will silently remove it from your list of bookmarked messages.
If you’re looking for a more permanent way to save Teams messages, you can take a screenshot. Or you can simply export your chat history.
Where Do Saved Messages Go in Teams?
When you bookmark a message, Teams does not move it to a different location. The respective message remains visible in the chat window. It does not disappear. All the other chat participants can see it.
The same message can be bookmarked by multiple users. There is no limitation in that regard.
Steve Gregory says
I want to save a page of files to my bookmark. Think of it, we are trying to keep our team’s files in one place. We need to regularly access those files. Right now it doesn’t seem like we can bookmark the page. The workaround is to save the email where the page creator sent us a link to the page. Why can’t I just directly bookmark that file page? If I can why not make this capability as well known as the ability to bookmark a message?
