iTunes Store Icon is Missing From iPhone or iPad

iTunes Store Icon is Missing From iPhone or iPad

October 3, 2018 by Mitch Bartlett 3 Comments

So, you can’t buy music from your Apple iPhone or iPad because the iTunes Store icon is missing? Here are some things you can check to find out what happened to the iTunes Store icon.

1. Check Folders and Other Screens

Flick your finger left or right to switch between Home screens and see if you accidentally moved it to another screen. Also be sure to check to see if it was placed in a folder on one of the screens.

2. Search

  1. from the Home screen, swipe all the way over to the left to reveal the search box.
  2. In the “Search” box type “iTunes“. The icon should be revealed.

3. Restrictions (Most Common Fix)

Sometimes the iTunes app gets disabled accidentally in the Restrictions section.

  1. Select “Settings“
  2. In iOS12 choose”Screen Time” > “Content Privacy & Restrictions” > “Content Privacy“. In iOS 11 and lower, choose “General” > “Restrictions“.
  3. Make sure” iTunes Store” is set to “On“.

Note: If you don’t know the password to access Restrictions, ask anybody who has handled the device. It commonly gets set by other family members and children.

4. Restore Home Screen to Default

Are you done searching and will do anything to get your iTunes icon back? Try to reset the Home screen under “Settings” > “General” > “Reset Home Screen Layout“.

5. Reset Everything

If none of the above works.you may want to try a Restore. To do so, perform these steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone/iPad to your computer and launch iTunes.
  2. Select your device.
  3. Select “Summary“ > “Restore“.

You can also perform a reset from the device:

  • “Settings” > “General” > “Reset” > “Erase all Content and Settings“.

Hopefully after trying these steps, your icon is back.

None of the we suggestions helped. I have an iPhone 8. It does not have General > Restrictions. Resetting the home screen didn’t work.. When I searched for iTunes, the icon did not appear. I still have my iTunes icon and my music library on my iPad.

Thank you much! This helped me a ton. My wife played with my iPad and that icon found its way into a different folder.
