If you are experiencing problems with your Fitbit Charge 2 where it will not sync with your Android or iPhone device. To solve this issue, you may want to perform a reset on the device. Here’s how its done.
- Connect your Fitbit Charge 2 to your charging cradle.
- Plug the charging cradle into a powered USB port.
- Ensure the Fitbit is charging, then press and hold the button on the device for 4 seconds. The Fitbit logo should appear and the device will vibrate.
The Fitbit Charge 2 should be reset. You can remove it from the charger and see if you can resume syncing.

I have tried the online no help. They could not get my Charge 2 to SYNC. They kept asking if I had a phone. I’m retired I only have an house phone an an old PC that runs Windows 10. It was working before the automatic update. Now does not work at all. Was told to delete from account and now cannot add back. Whoever made the decision to change things should be looked at very hard to see if the company still wants them. I can not monitor my sleep patterns anymore. This company does not care, I recommend think hard before buying their products again. I received an email welcoming me back and hope I enjoy my fitbit. I never went anywhere they did.
Don Norman says
Actually, you can press the button while the Fitbit 2 is in the charging cradle. As someone said, hold it for four seconds and you will see a logo on the face of the Fitbit. I tried this once and it quickly synced to my iPad, though I am still working to sync it to my iPhone.
Sparks says
No it did not sync on my iPhone. It did sync to my iPad.
Brian H says
You physically can’t press and hold the button on the Charge 2 while it is in the charging cradle. This is the most stupid solution ever…what is worse are the people saying they did it and it worked.
Nicky says
When my fitbit goes out-of-sync it’s usualy a Bluetooth issue. I have to take it off my bluetooth; Turn off the bluetooth then restart my ipad. Log in to my fitbit app and go to sync. (if you leave your fitbit app open you have to log out first) Then log back in.. It should ask if you want to sync in the fitbit app, proceed with re-syncing and it should work again.
S says
Fitbit will not sync, period.
Jennifer says
I tried this at least ten times and it’s still not working. I’m wondering if Fitbit is taking a page from Apple and sabotaging the older model technology to force their customers to buy a new one.
Ed says
Just what the Charge 2 doctor ordered!
Jack says
I’m pretty sure that everyone with a brain tried that before coming here.
Lori Cristen says
Hey presto, After googling this for two days and my phone not paired for four days, your advice worked!! Thank you so much
Emil Ezelius says
Keep it connected to your computer, while trying to sync, and press the button on the fitbit for 4 sec (reset). That worked for me. Hope it helps!
Kevin says
Nothing worked. Angry doesn’t begin to explain how I feel about this

I have tried the above on so many times I have lost count! My charge 2 has not worked in months it continues to show the go to fit bit set up….to me it is a waste of time an money! Any help will be appreciated:) Until that happens I will keep wearing it and sharing with others that fit bit products are not worth the cost

I have reset the Fitbit, uninstalled and installed the Fitbit app, added location services, restarted my phone multiple times and still cannot get my charge 2 to sync.
Emily Smith says
I have not been able to sync my Fitbit charge 2 for the last two days. I didn’t wear it for two weeks because the band broke, charged the battery to full when the replacement arrived, but the Bluetooth on my phone and computer can’t find it. I have tried restarting the Fitbit – it connects briefly to Bluetooth but then drops out. I have tried all the fixes I have seen here with no luck. My charge 2 is four years old; is this what happens when they wear out?
Pat says
Reset my watch, still didn’t sync. Went to all store and got an update. Once I applied that, turned off the app and back on, it finally synced.
Liz says
Thought i was the only one having these syncing issues. Definitely ditching fitbit then as this is so frustrating
Amy says
It looks like October 25 was also the last day my fitbit charge 2 synced. I know I synced it past them and it would do that day, but it seems it didn’t actually save in the app. Today I’ve gotten it to update today’s steps but nothing previously and the app still reads the last sync was oct 25th. What is going on???
Cristina says

My Charge 2 Fitbit stopped syncing to my phone on on 10/22/2020; just as many folks above have stated. I too, tried the reset as mentioned above. Still no luck! Has Fitbit declared “end-of-support”, for the Charge 2???
Karen Marie Farley says
My Charge 2 stopped syncing to my Fitbit app last week. It gives me calories but nothing else. I’ve tried the reset move, I’ve plugged it into my computer, nothing is working. SO frustrated! This has happened a few times before and it eventually started working again but I don’t know what changed it.
Linda Monformoso says
My Charge 2 stopped syncing to my iPhone today, midday. Fitbit counts steps, etc but will not sync. I have tried turning phone on/off, resetting as described above, but nothing. The “sync now” option never displays – it only shows “looking”. Bluetooth is active on my phone and is enabled on both phone and Fitbit.
This is very annoying.
Karen says
My charge 2 won’t sync even after I tried all the instructions to reset. It works but won’t sync to my app so I can’t transfer my workouts. :(

I am having the same issue. Fitbit works but will not sync since Aug 20, 2020. I tried resetting, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, etc. I get all the way through discovering the device and getting the pairing code and then nothing.

Didn’t do anything. I never even saw the Fitbit logo..

My Fitbit Charge 2 won’t connect to my phone. For some reason it use to connect and sync the info but last week it stopped. My bluetooth won’t recognize it. Also usually when I charge my watch it comes up with a battery to show how full it is but now it just shows fitbit symbol and nubers below it 22.58.00. What do i need to do to fix it?
Judy says
I’m glad I read the comments – my sync stopped a month ago; I followed the directions with no success. My Fitbit works but it doesn’t sync.

Only way I can get mine to sync when it stops syncing is to remove fitbit app from phone and reload app and it syncs once it asked all the questions
Maralyn Quinton says
My last Charge 2 stopped transmitting tothe app. The only recourseI was given was a 20% discount on a new one. I did not get that at the time, but did buy another one. Today, IT STOPPED TRANSMITTING, i am way more than upset! Have done everything, but no luck!

@Ginger – Is there a link to login for existing users instead? There should be! You are able to use your existing account and shouldn’t have to create a new one.
Ginger Fields says
My fitbit charge 2 worked great until traveling cross country the time is 5 hours ahead and I tried the 4 second reset but when I try to go to dash icon the fitbit is asking me to sigh up again and it says someone already has that account.
Mr. William L Foster says
My CHARGE 2 does not sync with my PC running windows 10. This has worked for months. I went into my Windows 10 settings and it tells me that the blue tooth to my CHARGE 2 is paired. The only change since this failure has been my spouse has gotten a FLEX 2 so she could count laps whilst swimming. The bluetooth connected with her FLEX 2 which I did not want. I asked her to go away to eliminate the FLEX 2 from contention and then I disabled the FLEX 2 in my dashboard. This did not bring my CHARGE 2 back to my dashboard. I do not see the CHARGE 2 icon on my dashboard. I try to install it but the installation page lists only the Charge 3. What to do to get my CHARGE 2 syncing again?
Jade Gani says
This was the quickest, easiest and most correct fix! Thank you.
