Dropbox: How to Unlink All of Your Devices from Paper

Dropbox: How to Unlink All of Your Devices from Paper

March 19, 2021 by Mel Hawthorne 1 Comment

Dropbox Paper is a cloud-based collaborative document platform like Google Docs. Its primary purpose is for you to work on documents with your colleagues and friends in real-time. To prevent any work effort from being duplicated, there is no time lag for creating new documents. There’s also no delay for changes to be applied as everyone can see them in real-time.

Another strong point of Dropbox Paper is that it tracks each user’s changes in the editing attribution and revision history. These tools make it easy to see who is responsible for producing great work. Adding comments to documents also facilitates enhanced communication around the document, which encourages better teamwork. Paper also employs a minimalistic interface. The formatting options are only visible when you’ve selected text for them to apply to.

One of the risks of cloud documents is that someone else could get access to your document. Generally, Dropbox’s security controls are pretty good, so you’re not just going to find that your document is accidentally public or anything. Instead, you’re most likely to have someone gain unauthorized access by hacking into a valid user’s account.

If this happens to you, obviously, you need to change your password. It’d also be a good idea to disconnect all of your mobile devices from the Dropbox Paper service too. This will disconnect the hacker’s device from looking at or downloading any Paper documents. At the same time, you go about securing your Dropbox account.

How to Unlink All Mobile Devices from Your Dropbox Paper

Unlinking all of your mobile devices from Dropbox’s Paper service is really easy to do. The first step of doing so is to sign in to your account on the Dropbox website. Once you’ve signed in, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner, then click on “Settings.”

When the settings have loaded, switch to the “Security” tab and scroll down to the page’s bottom. To unlink all of your mobile devices from Paper, click on “Unlink” in the “Paper mobile devices” section. A small notification will appear at the top of the screen to confirm that the process was successful and all Paper devices were unlinked.

Click on “Unlink” in the “Paper mobile devices” section of the security settings.

Dropbox paper is a useful document collaboration platform. By following the steps in this guide, you can unlink all mobile devices using your account from Dropbox Paper. Doing so can help prevent a hacker from accessing your collaborative documents while you secure your account.
