How to Turn Off Autocorrect on Stylo 4

How to Turn Off Autocorrect on Stylo 4

August 2, 2018 by Mitch Bartlett 12 Comments

Tired of the words you type being correcting by your LG Stylo 4 smartphone? You can change this behavior by either adding words to the dictionary, or turning autocorrect off entirely using these steps.

Add Words to Dictionary

When “Spelling correction” is enabled on the Stylo 4, words are automatically changed to the word the device thinks you want to use when you press the space bar. If this happens and you don’t want the word to be auto-corrected again, you can tap the word before you press the space bar. The word will then be added to the dictionary, and will no longer be corrected.

Disable Spelling Correction

  1. Open “Settings” > “Language & input” >”Spelling correction“.
  2. Toggle the “Spelling correction” setting to “Off“.

These autosuggestion functions waste at least 5x the time one would spend on simple communication. I had to go DEEP into my files to find the autocorrect function and turn it off. FYI, I had to turn off THREE different files.

I have the LG Stylo 4 and I don’t have “spelling correction” as an option.

    Disable Spelling Correction
Open “Settings” > “Language & input” >”Spelling correction“.
Toggle the “Spelling correction” setting to “Off

Thank you Mom_Kat ! We have new Style 4 Phones from Tracfone, and have been trying for days to stop the insane spell checker. Our other LG phones were simple and direct on how to turn the spell checker/corrector on or off but this model has burried that function deep in the Settings menus. Arrrggghhhhh ! Thank you thank you thankyou ! Be Safe Miss Quita .

On my Rebel 4 there’s a setting I had to turn off. It may be the same on your Stylo:
    Settings > System > Language and input > On-screen keyboard > LG Keyboard > Auto-correction > English > radio button OFF

I can actually use the suggestions without the autocorrect.

It is far worse than my former LG stylus. I can barely type a sentence since it insists on gobbledygook. I turned it “off” & that did no good. I hate it.

NO did not get rid of it. I hate that feature.
I do not need something telling me what I am trying to say and learned to spell in my infancy.

IT STILL AUTO-CORRECTS after you’ve turned off the spelling correct. And I do swear this spelling correct is more aggressive even than LG G3.
I can’t find any other place in the menu where I can address this problem, and I sure can’t see why a simple “on/off” option fails completely to work.

    No, this did not help.
I turned off the spelling correction weeks ago, and it is still off, and it is still doing it.
For example, it changed “lookie” to Loomis.
I tried backing up and correcting it, but it kept changing it.
    It was infuriating.
