Want to filter what your kids should watch on Amazon Prime? Keep reading to learn the methods to set up an Amazon Prime Video Profile for kids.
Your Prime subscription comes with premium access to Amazon Prime videos, movies, and TV shows among other perks. The Amazon Prime video library contains an endless collection of multimedia content. All of these content are not necessarily appropriate for your children.
If you’ve implemented an effective parental control routine on your kids’ devices, then you must control how they access Amazon Prime. Without an effective control on Amazon Prime your parental control strategies won’t work. Find below ways to create a separate kid’s profile on Amazon Prime so your kids can watch only approved content.
What’s Amazon Prime Video Profile?
Amazon Prime Video Profile feature allows you to create separate account preferences for adults, teens, and children within a family. Using such profiles, you can share Amazon Prime’s digital content with family members without disclosing each other’s content-consuming behavior. Also, if you set up a profile for your kid, you can decide what they can watch. Not to mention, Prime Video hides your watchlist or content history from them.
Amazon Prime lets you create video profiles for your kids or teens from two different interfaces and these are as outlined below:
How to Add, Edit, and Delete Amazon Kids Profiles
The Prime Video Kid’s profile guarantees that your kids can only watch content that’s safe for them. This is usually those videos, movies, and TV shows that come with a 12 and under maturity rating. Prime Video website, mobile app, and TV app will filter content suggestions and search results for your kids.
Kids accessing Prime Video from a separate profile can’t purchase content from your profile. Or, you can create a Prime Video PIN to restrict purchases from every profile. However, by navigating to the right options within the Prime Video portal, kids can access content downloaded by you.
Features of Kid’s Profile on Prime Video:
- Must enter a valid date of birth of the kid
- Need to set up a parental controls PIN to manage Amazon Kids Profile
- Ability to deregister kid’s devices if you forget parental controls PIN
- Create elaborate devices and content usage plans on kid’s devices as well as on smart TVs and tablets

- Now, visit the Amazon Household portal.

- Scroll to the bottom to find Start sharing today section.
- Click Add a Child button for a kid (12 and under).

- Birthdate
- Don’t forget to choose an avatar for the profile.

That’s it! You’ve successfully created a child’s profile on Prime Video. You should now see the Manage Your Household page. Scroll below to find a separate profile for your kid.
Managing Your Kid’s Profile
Find below various Prime Video portals to manage your kids’ profiles effortlessly:
- Firstly, you can get an Amazon Kids+ subscription to give your kids access to over 15,000 kid-friendly movies, books, educational apps, TV shows, and games.
- Alternatively, you can add content to the child profile from Your Content And Devices portal.
- From Your Content and Devices portal, you can add individual books, apps, shows, and movies by reviewing them yourself first. So, this is more satisfactory since your manual input is needed.
- To discover what your kids watch and do on Amazon Prime, Amazon Kids+, and Freetime, you can log in to the Amazon Parent Dashboard.
Deleting A Kid’s Profile
Are you looking to delete a kid’s profile from your Amazon Prime subscription? Here are the quick steps you must know:
- Go to the Manage Your Household portal. I shared the link earlier.
- Now, find the kid’s account. Should be at the bottom of the page.
- Click Edit below the avatar to access the Edit child profile pop-up.

- Now, simply hit the Remove Child from Household button.
- There won’t be any confirmation window. So, if you’re absolutely sure, then hit the Remove… button.
How to Add a Kid’s Profile From Prime Video Portal
Are you unable to set up a kid’s profile from Amazon Household? Do you want to create a quick child profile and manage it later from Amazon Parent Dashboard? here’s what you need to do:
- Open the Prime Video web portal as you do usually.

- Hover the mouse cursor over your name or avatar on the top right.
- Click the Add new (+) button below the Profiles menu.
- There, click the Create profile button.

- Type in your child’s name and toggle on the Kid’s profile? button.
- Hit the Save changes button.
Now, you should see the Who’s watching? page. It’s the Manage profiles section on Amazon Prime. There, simply click on the newly-created child profile. Prime Video will reload and open a child-safe viewing interface. As you scroll down, you’ll only find content suitable for kids under the age of 12.
Try the following steps to check if the child filter is working as it should:
- Hover the cursor over My Stuff and click All.
- This will open the Watchlist and Purchases & Rentals.

- If there’s no child-safe content on your original profile, then you’ll see an empty watchlist.
- Similarly, Purchases & Rentals will also be empty if you didn’t purchase any content on Prime Video with an audience rating of 12 years or below.

Now, if your child is smart enough to attempt to purchase Prime Video content that’s not appropriate for them, Amazon won’t let that happen. If they go to Purchases & Rentals from My Stuff > All, they’ll only find content appropriate for children (12 years and below). Hence, setting up a kid’s profile on Prime Video is just like a child-safe sandbox of Amazon Prime. When you don’t have the time to set up a detailed kid’s account, this is the method of choice.
If you need to add a kid’s profile on Amazon Fire TV, then go to the Who’s Watching Fire TV screen and select Add Profile using the Fire TV remote. Now, follow the same steps as mentioned above to create a child-safe content browsing and watching environment on Prime Video.
How to Add Content to Amazon Kids Profile
When you get some free time, follow these steps to add new, exciting, and educational content to your child’s profile. Else, they’ll feel bored with repetitive content on Amazon Prime:
- Visit Amazon Parent Dashboard.
- Click the cogwheel on the top right corner of the kid’s profile.

- On the menu that opens, click Add content.
- The Add Content for… page will open.
- Here all eligible content will show up from Prime Video outside the Amazon Kids subscription.
