Netflix: Change Password

Netflix: Change Password

By Mitch Bartlett 14 Comments

This weekend, a friend somehow managed to acquire my Netflix password. Naturally, I had to change it. It took me a while to find where I could go on the website to change the password. After about 5 minutes, I finally figured it out.

From Desktop Browser

  1. Login to Netflix and ensure the primary account holder’s name is selected in the upper-right corner of the screen. If you have forgotten your password, go to the Password Reset page and enter the email address for your account, then follow the directions in your email.
  2. Mouse over your name in the upper-right corner, then choose “Your Account“.
  3. Select the “Change password” link.
  4. Type your “Current Password“, “New Password“, then “Confirm New Password“.
  5. If you wish to boot any devices that use Netflix out of your account and require the new password be entered next time it is used, check the “Require all devices to sign in again with new password.“
  6. Select “Save“.

From iOS & Android App

  1. Login to the Netflix app. If you have forgotten your password, tap the “Forgot Your Password?” option.
  2. Select the “Menu” Menu Button icon at the upper-left corner of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and select “Account“.
  4. A browser page will open where you can select “Change password“.
  5. Type your “Current Password“, “New Password“, then “Confirm New Password“.
  6. If you wish to boot any devices that use Netflix out of your account and require the new password be entered next time it is used, check the “Require all devices to sign in again with new password.“
  7. Select “Save“.

we have 3 user profiles 2 adults and one kids.
How do I go about having the kids profile only show on the TV the kids use?
Can I lock the others out and can I keep them from creating an additional profile?

If I change the password will the other 2 individuals that have profiles have to relog in with the new password if they haven’t logged out under the old password?

Chrissy just cancel your membership on Netflix and start again with your own email account otherwise you can’t stop them using your Netflix… just saying !

A person who no longer lives in my home set up our Netflix account with their email and their password. We find out so many unauthorized others are using our account. Therefore stopping my family in my home to sometimes not be able to log on. TOO MANY USERS!!!How can we set up new account with our own email & password. Therefore taking all power from original person who is now an unauthorized user.

This was helpful. My question is kind of the opposite . If I reset my password because I forgot it, is there an option to leave all my other devices logged in and NOT require everyone in my family to sign in again?
    Thanks!
