How to View Remaining Time in WhatsApp Location Sharing

You might share your location on WhatsApp for various reasons. You may be walking home alone, and you want someone to know where you are just in case anything bad should happen.

When you share your location, WhatsApp asks for how long you would like to share your location. You can choose from options such as 15 minutes, One hour, or eight hours. You add the time you think is enough, but sometimes it’s not enough, and in the end, you need to add more time. Keep reading to see how much time is left in your WhatsApp location sharing so you can add more time.

How to See Remaining Location Sharing Time in WhatsApp

You’ve already shared your WhatsApp location. But you are not sure if the time is up. To check the remaining time, open the chat where you shared, tap on the map. When the map is fully open, you’ll see how much time is left at the bottom left.

View remaining location sharing time

As long as you’re there, you can also change how you view the WhatsApp location map. Tap on the dots at the top right and choose from options such as:

WhatsApp Map Types

  • Map View
  • Satellite View
  • Terrain View
  • Show Traffic

This last option is handy for your commute. By enabling this option, you know what streets to avoid and not be late for work. If you want to stop sharing your location, that option is in red at the bottom right. Once you stop sharing your location on WhatsApp, you can’t enable it again by tapping on the map image. You’ll need to start all over by tapping on the clip icon > Location > Share Live Location.

The option to share your location on WhatsApp is very useful for various reasons. But, by following the tips mentioned here, you can always know how much time you have left.
