How to Factory Reset Google Wi-Fi

If you want to clear the memory of your Google Wi-Fi, you will need to perform a factory reset. A factory reset will set the Google WiFi hardware to a completely cleared state and restore it to how it was out of the box.

Resetting Router

Factory Reset Router Using Hardware Button

  1. Locate the Factory Reset button. It is located on the bottom or rear of the router. Ensure it is plugged in.
  2. Press and hold the Factory Reset button for 10 seconds. The light will start flashing. Release the button once the light is solid.
  3. Wait while the hardware goes through the reset process. It can take more than 10 minutes to complete. Once complete, the light will pulse gently.

  1. Open the Google Home app on your Android or iPhone device.
  2. Select the name of the access point in the list.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Select Factory reset network.
  5. Tap Ok.

  1. Locate the Factory Reset button on the bottom of the unit.
  2. Press and hold the Factory Reset button for about 15 seconds. Newer models will play a sound to confirm the factory reset is in process. Older models will flash a blue and white light. After you hear the sound or see the blue and white lights flash, release the button.
  3. Wait for about 10 minutes for the reset to complete.

  1. Open the Google Home app on your Android or iPhone device.
  2. Select the name of the access point in the list.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Select Factory reset Wi-Fi point.
  5. Tap Factory Reset.
