Forgot Kids Mode PIN on Samsung Galaxy Device

If you have forgotten the PIN to get your Samsung Galaxy S, Tab, or other Galaxy device, you can follow these steps to get access to your phone back.

  1. Power down the phone by pressing and holding the “Power” button and selecting “Power Off“.
  2. With the device off, press and hold the “Power” key to turn the device on while holding the “Volume Down” button. The device should start in “Safe Mode“. The words “Safe Mode” should be shown in the lower-left corner of the screen once the device starts.
  3. Once in Safe Mode, go to “Settings” > “Applications” > “Manage Applications“.
  4. Choose “Kids Mode” from the list of apps, then select “Uninstall“. Select “Done” once the uninstall is complete.
  5. Press and hold the “Power” button, then choose “Restart“, and your phone should restart normally and will be removed from Kids Mode.

  3. I’m hoping you’ve figured this out already, but my daughter had the same problem today. After some various Google searching, I found that you have to shut the Galaxy off completely. Then start it up and hold down the ‘down’ volume button until the swipe screen. Swipe and you should be in Safe Mode, and it will say it in the bottom left corner if you are. Once there, go to Settings –> Application Manager, and uninstall the Kids Mode app with extreme prejudice.

  15. I am sure this can be stressful, kindly shutdown and start your phone six times, from the forth time, it will ask you to turn on safe mode.
    Turn on the safe mode and follow the instruction that has been described.
    1) Settings

    2) Applications

    3) Remove first the kid mode and any other Samsung kids app
    —- force stop and uninstall

  18. I found that if you can’t remember your password you can press 0000 and you will have access to the parental controls and go from there

  28. This only worked on my tablet by continued pressure on both power and volume button the ENTIRE time I was removing kids mode. So if you have a cheaper or older tablet, hopefully this is helpful. Every time I did anything else, it powered off and I had to restart the process.

  31. Can we get temporary pins? Tried following the instructions, when I turn tablet back on it just bring me back to the the kids app. When I go to settings it won’t allow me to, due to permissions. Kid used my tablet I really need help.

    User account was stacked with Samsung Kids. Restart in Safe mode. Changed to the user profile that had the issue. Check the installed applications and removed Samsung Kids. Log off from Safe mode and back to normal display.

  49. I was able to get into safe mode using the steps below, however, not able to open settings, it still prompts to use the a kids mode PIN:

    Turn the device off.
    Press and hold the Power key.
    When Samsung appears on the screen, release the Power key.
    Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
    Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
    Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode on the device.
    Uninstall apps that are causing a problem.

    I nearly lost it

    The trick is to hold down the volume down button a little longer while the phone restarts..(thus lifting your other finger from the restart button)

    Then:

    1) Settings
    2) Applicatoions
    3) Samsung kids
    4) force stop and uninstall

    Restart the phone again(without pressing any volume keys) and there you go!

  57. On my tablet the safe mode still opened in kids mode and could not get out of it. What worked for me is:
    1. Enter multiple time wrong pin to close kids mode
    2. Samsung account will recognize this and ask you to confirm Samsung account
    3. This allows you to reset the pin for kids mode.
    4. Enter the new pin and you are out of kids mode.

    Press the bottom button and the power button for 20 seconds.

    Drag down the screen with your finger and press the “Settings symbol” it will be along the right hand side. It’s grey and small, look for it.

    Settings should pop up! Took a while for me, just keep trying if you don’t get it the first time.

    Go to
    1: “apps and notifications”
    2: select “Kids Launcher”
    3: select “force stop”
    4: scroll to the bottom of that same page and select “Advanced” there will be a drop down arrow
    5: select “home app” another one except the kids launcher.

    Finally resolved this! We didn’t even put a pin. Weird hope it helps!!!!

  74. Solved!!! Happened to me tonight. I found no help on internet and safemode didn’t work, out of pure frustration I kept entering 0. Repeatedly. Dont stoo when it checks your password. After 15, or 20 zeros password recovery came up with 3 options,
    Enterpasswoed
    Biometrics
    One time email verification
    I unlocked with my finger print, created a new kids mode password, then put that in again and unlocked it. Like I said it was dumb luck. But wtf it worked is all that matters

    your five (5) instructions to solve the kids home app password does not work and you have not answer the question and send temporary password by email.

    Samsung Cell Phone Team if this simple problem is not solve, it doesn’t make since buying Samsung cell pone.

    A loyalty customer should not to go through this, especially for a simple password problem

    BTW, in newer software as in my A30 (2019), type in “Kids Home” after activating safe mode and going into settings. Then select Kids Home and uninstall it,,, then restart after the uninstallation is complete.
