How to Soft and Hard Reset Asus Eee Pad Transformer

Perform a soft or hard reset on your Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet if it is not functioning correctly. Here’s how.

Soft Reset

You would want to soft reset the device in the event that it has become frozen or unresponsive. To do so, press and hold the Power button on the top-left side of the device for about 10 seconds until the device powers off.

Hard Reset

A hard reset (also known as a factory reset) will clear all data and settings from the memory of the device and set it back to factory default settings. You can perform hard reset on the Asus Eee Pad using the Android OS menus or the hardware buttons.

Method 1

1. Power the Eee Pad off.

2. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the left side of the device, then press and hold the Power button.

3. Continue to hold both buttons until a bootloader screen appears.

4. Wait for the prompt that says to “Press <VOL_UP>” then press the Volume Up button to start the process.

The Asus Eee Pad will complete the hard reset process and reboot into a factory default state.

Method 2

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Select Privacy.

3. Choose Factory data reset.

4. Select Erase tablet.

5. Select Erase everything.

I did this but then the android man first stands up then lays down with face plate open and res triangle on his chest with a black exclamation point. Then that image goes away and then asus normal start screen with asus only sticks there and does nothing else.

There’s no TRIM support until you get to Android 4.3, so I’m stuck with 4.2 and having to factory reset it every 4 to 6 months because it doesn’t remember to free up deleted space. It’s good to have a backup available before doing a hard reset. Today, I got stuck with Google Play trying to update dozens of apps and freezing while each one was downloading or installing. It takes nearly 10 minutes to reboot, work for a minute and refreeze. Sucks!

Thanks! My eee Pad was just frozen with the android logo waving and wouldn’t change regardless of what I tried. I followed your (press and hold the down vol, then press the power button) and it worked. It didn’t hard reset, but I’m glad about that. Thanks again
