How to Soft and Hard Reset Asus Eee Pad Transformer

Perform a soft or hard reset on your Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet if it is not functioning correctly. Here’s how.

Soft Reset

You would want to soft reset the device in the event that it has become frozen or unresponsive. To do so, press and hold the Power button on the top-left side of the device for about 10 seconds until the device powers off.

Hard Reset

A hard reset (also known as a factory reset) will clear all data and settings from the memory of the device and set it back to factory default settings. You can perform hard reset on the Asus Eee Pad using the Android OS menus or the hardware buttons.

Method 1

1. Power the Eee Pad off.

2. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the left side of the device, then press and hold the Power button.

3. Continue to hold both buttons until a bootloader screen appears.

4. Wait for the prompt that says to “Press <VOL_UP>” then press the Volume Up button to start the process.

The Asus Eee Pad will complete the hard reset process and reboot into a factory default state.

Method 2

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Select Privacy.

3. Choose Factory data reset.

4. Select Erase tablet.

5. Select Erase everything.

What you need to do is this:
    1. Hold volume down and power button
    2. Release power button once the tablet turns on but continue to hold volume down until you see an android and wipe data icon in the center of the screen.
    3. Press volume down to switch to the wipe data option.
    4. Press volume up twice to confirm selection.

I have done all of the cold and hard reboot and my Asus Tablet still will not respond to touch. When I got it unlocked using different unlocking methods, the screen and menu’s kept opening and closing with out a touch. When I did the hard reboot, the Android icon came up then had a red exclamation point above him. This is really frustrating.

My transformer (Tf300T) has been locked after a pattern lock out. Have tried using the gmail option but it keeps saying NO Internet connection, even when am within wi-fi coverage.
I’m really bummed I may have to hard-reset but then:
    1. will it help me get past this lockout for sure?
    2. Isn’t there another way?
a shame all of this is happening – just as I discovered the tablet I bought is NOT 3G enabled. And 3G is about the ‘only’ affordable way to go for mobile connectivity in Nigeria.
    Double Bummer!!!
The joy I felt when I got my tablet 3weeks ago is just… All gone!
    Pls help!

My Eee Pad wont do anything at all. It is off and will not come on or respond in any way doing any of the resets. It was plugged in all night and I can’t even get the screen to some on or show anything at all. Any suggestions?

I also got the Android icon with the warning triangle, but being desperate I pressed both bottoms again and that did the trick.

Did you ever root your system or load a non ASUS ROM? If so, that’s normal, but it has a locked bootloader. You’ll have to go to the forum where you got the ROM and look for instructions from them.
If you did not change the ROM or root your device, contact ASUS.
