Installing Microsoft Office on iPhone 11

Installing Microsoft Office on iPhone 11

Posted on April 13, 2020 by Mona Leave a Comment

Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint,  are all available for iPhone users in the App Store. Your iPhone must be running iOS 12 or later. The quality of these apps have improved greatly in recent years. If you don’t have a Microsoft account already, we will also provide a guide for how to register for a free account.

How to Install Microsoft Office on Your iPhone 11

  1. To begin, open the App Store and search “Office 365.”
  2. This will provide you with a complete list of available Microsoft Office applications.
  3. Select “Get,” and enter your App Store credentials to begin the installation process.
  4. It is important that you are only selecting the apps that state Microsoft is the developer to avoid downloading an alternate version.
  5. Once this download is complete, open the app.
  6. You’ll now see general introductory pages that list basic features and capabilities of the specific app.
  7. Once you review this information, you will be directed to a login screen.

Account Set-up

You are under no obligation to pay for an Office 365 subscription to be able to access basic features. You will, however, need to register for a free account by creating a Microsoft ID. To do so, you can create an account with your email and choose a password. If you already have an Office 365 subscription, you can simply log in. You’ll use your email associated with your account on the first login screen.

Upon signing in, if your email is recognized with an associated account, you will be prompted to choose whether your account is a standard Microsoft account or work account.  This type of account is typically provided by your university or work.

Microsoft Office Features

A standard Microsoft account should be chosen if you have an account with your email already for OneDrive, Xbox LIVE, Outlook.com, or any other type of Microsoft service. Once you choose the type of account associated with your email, you will then be required to sign in using those credentials. Once this is complete, you can begin creating and editing documents.

You might be stuck deciding on whether or not you should purchase an Office 365 subscription. Try assessing what you would be using your account for. If you are downloading the apps for work or commercial purposes, it may be best to purchase the subscription in order to unlock advanced features.

Premium versions of Microsoft Office remove many limitations to include features like picture formatting tools, an additional 1 TB of online storage, and more. The cost of an Office 365 subscription is about 70 dollars per year or 7 dollars a month.

Storage Options

There are also syncing options for iOS users using Microsoft Office. These enable the user to access a cloud storage service called OneDrive. This allows you to store and access documents with your account on multiple different devices. This way, you can create a document on one device. You’ll be able to revise and edit it on the go with another device. You can download Microsoft OneDrive on the App Store in order to save your files and cloud storage all in one place.

Keep in mind that if you are on a budget, signing up for the free version of Office 365 is recommended. This version provides you with the fundamental tools, which offers standard essential functions. Signing up is as simple as downloading the app on the App Store. Then create a new account or signing in with an email and password.
