How to Always Start Firefox in Private Mode

How to Always Start Firefox in Private Mode

It can be convenient when you start to enter the URL of a site to see that the browser displays the rest of it. But, what might seem comfortable to some might seem creepy to others.

By using Firefox’s Private Mode, none of the sites you visit will be recorded. You can go from site to site without having to worry that your browsing history is being saved.

How to Always Make Firefox Launch in Private Mode

If you’re already in Firefox and want to open a Private tab, click on the three-lined menu option and click on New Private Window. For faster access, you can also press Ctrl + Shift + P.

The only problem with this is that you have to launch Firefox like you usually would and then open the Private Mode window.

To make Firefox always open in Private Mode, you’ll need to go:

  • Three-lined menu
  • Options
  • Privacy & Security
  • Scroll down to History
  • In the Firefox will drop-down menu choose Use custom settings for history

After choosing the option, you’ll see a set of new options. Click on Always use private browsing mode, and you’ll be prompted to restart Firefox. Once the browser reboots, the option should be checked.

If you want to make sure that it worked, follow the previously mentioned steps, and there should be a checkmark to the side of the Always use private browsing mode option.

Conclusion

You can never be too careful when it comes to your privacy. So when you want to keep the sites you visit private, you know you have this option available. How often do you go incognito? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
