Definitive Guide To Updating to Miui 11

March 30, 2020 by Mona Leave a Comment

Miui 11 OS was introduced last year in China from Xiaomi and this of course means that it can be used on such phones as the Redmi K20, Xiaomi Mi 9, Pocophone F1, Redmi Note 7 and the Xiaomi CC9. It is well worth the time to upgrade to the new operating system but there are some things you should know before doing this. Here is a guide to updating to Miui 11.

Applying for Miui 11

Before going any further, let’s check if your phone can be upgraded on Miui 11. There is an extensive list of phones that are listed in this article that are able to perform the upgrade now. If not, then all is not lost.

1. Get Your Code

First of all you should go to WeChat and search for and find ‘’MIUI’’ on the list that pops up. The second step is to follow the MIUI account. After that you send a message which is simply ‘’MIUI’’. You’ll then be sent an application code. Copy this code down and then press the Chinese characters that look like this: “抢先体验”. You should be able to sign in with your WeChat or Xiaomi accounts.

2. Submit Your Application

Hopefully you haven’t misplaced your application because in the next step you’ll be required  to type it in along with the correct Xiaomi phone model number. After that you are required to notify your agreement by placing a tick in the box and then of course press enter. Please be aware that it might take some time for your application to be approved but once it is done so you can enjoy MIUI 11 to its full potential.

Download Miui 11 Yourself

Of course another option open to is to download MIUI 11 on your own. You should check your updates first by going to ‘’Settings’’ then onto ‘’About Phone’’. After that you check‘’System update’’ and then ‘’Check for updates’’. The code you’re looking for is this > MIUI v11.0.2.O.PFJINXM. Another identifying feature is that the size of the file is 766 MB. Press Download update to download and be prepared to wait for a few minutes while it does this.

1. Adjust Your Region

A neat trick to obtaining MIUI 11 if you’re desperate for it is to change the region settings if you’re sure that your phone hasn’t been notified in the update section in regards to MIUI 11. Once again go to ‘’Settings’’. You should type in ‘’Region’’ in the search bar and then click on ‘’India’’ as your region. (Yes, I know it’s a country).

2. Update Your Phone

After this you should go to ‘’About phone’’ in the settings section. Proceed onto ‘’Systems update’’ and then press ‘’ Click for updates’’. It should come up in this section and you should be free to download MIUI 11.

Check Before You Start

If you’re a regular user of Xiaomi phones then perhaps you should be familiar with these steps but phones can be very complex devices that don’t necessarily come with complete information as to how to use them. And as always you should conduct your own research to make sure you have a full understanding of the relatively easy task before you.
