Amazon Fire TV Stuck in Zoom

Amazon Fire TV Stuck in Zoom

January 4, 2022 by Mona 35 Comments

Amazon Fire and Fire TV Stick users may find that that the screen on their TV appears zoomed in too much. The problem will cause the screen to be cut off with areas missing. It’s a common issue. You can easily fix this problem with the following steps.

Fix 1 – Disable Screen Magnifier via Remote

Press and hold the “Back” and “Fast Forward” buttons on the remote. This should disable the screen magnifier feature and reset things back to normal.

Some models may require you to hold the “Menu” and “Pause/Play” buttons.

Fix 2 – Kodi Users

  1. From the Home screen, select “System” > “Settings“.
  2. Choose “Appearance“.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and change “Settings Level” to “Export“.
  4. Scroll up to “Display“
  5. Under “Calibration” select “Video Calibration“.
  6. Use the arrows on the remote to position the screen as desired. Once set, push the Center button on the report.
  7. Adjust the box to where it shows as a square. Once set, push the Center button on the report.

Fix 3 – Toshiba Users

  1. Go to “Menu” > “Picture” > “Theater Settings” > “Picture Size“
  2. Select “Native“. If that doesn’t work, try some of the other Picture Size settings to see what works best.

What worked for me was going to FireTV’s “Display & Sounds” > “Display” > “Dynamic Range Settings” and selecting “Adaptive” instead of “Always HDR”. For some reason this fixed my cut off screen in Twitch even though every other app was working fine before.

With the help of an Amazon technician, I found the solution.

Simply press and hold for 5-10 seconds “Play/Pause” + “Select” (the big round button)

This will automatically shut and restart your TV and the picture size of the guide screen will be fullscreen.

Unplug your TV from power outlet and plug it back it’ll update whatever TV needs to update and it’ll set all back as it was. This advice cost $5 Lol.

None of the fixes below have worked for me. I have the new 4K fire stick and can only see a quarter of the picture.

Go to settings then go to accessibility then go to screen magnifier then turn it off from inside settings was the only way I could fix it

No , I can’t scroll to the right at all.
I’ve only had this a month and it’s been nothing but problems…one thing after another. Horrible product.

Try the remote to your tv, the format button. I had the same issue for months and all along it was my tv remote not my fire tv or it’s remote…..Hope this help someone. Cause it drove me nuts.

For those saying “active the magnifier” that is not the issue some of us are having… It will randomly just zoon in. the only way to fix it that i can find is to exit the video you are in, and go back. I too would prefer not to exit the video. Please help.

    SOLUTION:
I hadn’t used my Fire Stick for a couple of days, and when I when I went to use it all the menus were off the screen. None of the suggestions worked. I assume that it was caused by some system update since I hadn’t been using it or the remote control. The fast forward/back combination on the remote didn’t fix it so it wasn’t the zoom feature. After being frustrated for an hour I finally unplugged the Fire Stick for a minute and plugged it back in. When it powered back up, everything was back to normal; the menus were all visible as usual. Whew!

FYI, this is a 2021 Generation 3 Fire Stick (not 4K)

On Vizio TV settings go to settings, then click System, and then underneath view mode change your tvs picture i had to choose Wide and it fixed my issues. The arrows now touch my screen normally.

Zoom in problem only occurs with 4K Firestick for a Vizio HD Smart TV with Smart cast. I have tried holding down the back button and the fast forward buttom together. This brings up an instruction screen that tells one how to use the magnifier and also lets one turn off the magnifier. Neither turning off the magnifier nor using the magnifier and zooming in helps. Neither does going into Settings and intio Display and choosing the Scale option. This lets one move arrows in and out to set the screen size. This doesn’t help either. Neither did other things I have tried.

Perhaps you have an individual TV setting causing your particular issue?

I have holding the back button and the fast forward button at the same time and I get the screen with all the different choices. At the bottom it says TURN OFF MAGNIFER. I try to click on that and the screen gets larger. Can anyone HELP.

Don’t play around in the settings….

Hold the Back Button (left of the home button) and simultaneously hold the FF (>>) button.

    After 2 sec. PERFECTO!

This website taught me this and get all the credit !!

Can’t even get to settings. Everything is cut off the screen so I can’t see what I’m clicking, and trying to do it blind hasn’t found where the settings are. It’s just the firestick that is cutting off, so I know it’s not the tv or other devices. The firestick worked fine until today. Would be nice to know how to fix it.

Thank goodness for the remote button display…we’ve been zoomed in for almost 3 weeks and I kept trying to figure this out with the troubleshooting guide with no success and figuring something was screwy with my TV settings but the video game system worked normally so I was just stuck trying to watch programs on zoomed in mode.
