Spotify: How to View Play History

By Mel Hawthorne 9 Comments

Spotify’s history feature is pretty cool – it allows you to view the last 50 songs you listened to, just in case one of them got stuck in your head and you want to listen to it again. Getting back to your history is easy – just follow the steps below.

Tip: If you are looking for what’s up next in your playlist, you are looking for the Play Queue feature, not the History feature!

  1. On Computer

If you are using Spotify on the computer, you can find the History by clicking on the burger menu with the little play button in the bottom-right corner. You’ll first be taken to your regular Play Queue, where you can add and remove (or change the order) of future tracks to be played.

Just click on the History option in order to see the last 50 tracks played!

  1. On Mobile

On mobile, it sadly isn’t that simple. While you can readily access your Play Queue to view future songs, the history feature isn’t available in the same capacity. You can still view your previous songs though – Click on any of the created playlists to see the songs that are already on it.

Then, tap the icon to add songs at the top. You’ll see some suggested tracks – and if you swipe left, you’ll also see your Recently Played songs there. You can then add them to a playlist – or simply note down their titles to find them again later using the search function.

I presume this is no longer accurate? For the life of me, with Que up, I don’t see History at the top.

Thank you, Paul Lyons! Fantastic tip. I’ve been hunting for so long how to find songs in my history that I’ve played by just selecting ‘add to queue’ as the only ones that show in history (even on desktop) were those played from a playlist.

Follow up for John from October 7. The tip works on iPhone XS running iOS 14.0. Just took an extra swipe. Tapping Add songs took me to a list of suggested songs with four dots at the bottom center of the screen. Swiping left took me to three further lists with Recently played the second of those. So I suggest if you have dots at the bottom of the first screen just keep swiping to find Recently played. Hope that works for you.

Ugh, I can’t find my history of songs played on mobile. I’ve tried your suggestion above and swiping left does me no good on my iPhone. Any other suggestions? I’ve looked on desktop computer and mobile.

Did spotify remove the feature where you can see previously played songs? Because i tried it on my created playlist and the previously played option is gone the last option when i swipe is songs you liked.
