Facebook: There Was a Problem Following This Profile

Facebook: There Was a Problem Following This Profile

March 18, 2022 by Madalina Dinita Leave a Comment

If you like the content that a particular Facebook user posts on their timeline, you can follow them and get notified every time they post something new. All you need to do is hit the “Follow” button. But sometimes that’s not possible. When you try to follow someone, a strange message pops up saying there was a problem following that profile.

What Does It Mean When You Cannot Follow Someone on Facebook?

If you cannot follow someone on Facebook, this means that person has disabled the option to be followed. In other words, they disabled the “Follow” button in their account settings. If you were able to follow them before, this may indicate they unfriended or blocked you, or they simply deactivated their account.

Just because you can’t follow someone on Facebook, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re ignoring you. Some people prefer to keep a small circle of friends and followers. Maybe they accept Friendship requests only from family and close friends.

How to Control Who Can Follow You on Facebook

You can tweak your privacy settings to prevent people you’re not friends with from following you on Facebook. In this manner, only your Friends can follow your Facebook activity.

Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click on Public Posts in the right-hand pane.
  3. Go to Who Can Follow Me.
  4. Use the drop-down menu and change your settings from Public to Friends.

Speaking of privacy settings, you can further customize your account settings to prevent other users from tracking your Facebook activity. You can also hide your last name, likes, group posts, status information, and so on.

Conclusion

If you can’t follow someone on Facebook, this means they deactivated the Follow button on their account. You can tweak your account settings to prevent people who are not your friends from following you. Use this option if you want to keep a close circle of followers.
