How To Control Your Telegram Data

MonaJanuary 27, 2020 Comments (1)

The telegram was first introduced as a platform for transmission of encrypted signals. It eventually evolved over the decades and now there’s the modern-day telegram which is a cloud-based service for sending and receiving messages, and voice-overs with encryption. It keeps user data safe and private.

Telegram is a service that enables the exchange of information. Users need a mobile number and some personal information for identification purposes to be able to create an account. It is used for instant messaging.

What happens to the massive influx of information that comes from telegram and the one that is sent? With telegram, users can control their data more easily. They can delete chats without notifications sent to the other end, and set up a different password on the same telegram account on mobile, web or iPad, back up important data among other things.

For more than your average paranoid user, Telegram also has an option for secret chats. These chats have option for a self-destructive timer.

Unlike other messaging services telegram has ways to save a chat privately or be able to encrypt a particular chat. If you want to manage your chats, telegrams lets you encrypt all your chats or single chats with individual passcodes.

To lock telegram chats, click on the three stacks of lines on the left top side of the screen. And go to settings. Proceed and click on security and privacy. There is an option for the passcode. This allows users to set up a passcode lock for the app or to set up a two-step notification. The passcode is four digits.

There you can set up a passcode, use fingerprint unlock, or both. After the password is set, users can set up a timer to lock the app after a stipulated time if it is not been used. The timer can range from 1 minute to 5 hours. To lock chats, click on the padlock icon on the top right side of the screen.

Users can also start up a secret chat. If you want to discuss sensitive information or are just crazy about your privacy, secret chats are the way to go. Just click on the three stacked lines on the top left side of your screen and then go to start a secret chat. This allows you to start up a secret chat with any of your contacts.  This chat is not stored on the cloud and has end to end encryption. You can set a self destruct timer to a chat or received and send media.

With telegram, users can also delete chats from the receiver’s phone. To do so, just long-press on the message you want to delete and click on the trash-can item on the top right corner of the app. When you click on it you will be given the option to delete on both ends or not. on

Users can also edit sent messages by long-pressing on the message and clicking on the edit icon. Telegram is a cloud based storage which means that data is stored on the cloud. Users can also select and configure when the data should be deleted from the cloud database. The time ranges from one hour to forever. The default is forever. Users can go to setting and storage to change this.cloud-based

To export telegram data, you need to have the telegram installed on your PC. If not, go to desktop.telegram.org. and download it. It’s a small file. Click on the top left button and go to settings. Then click on the advanced options and export telegram data. Select which data to export and the right destination for the exportation.

You can also export individual chats by clicking on the chats and the three stacked dots on the top left corner of the chat. Click in the export chat option from the drop-down menu. Here you will also have to select the destination for the exportation.
