How to Add a PDF to Microsoft Word

How to Add a PDF to Microsoft Word

By Judy Sanhz 1 Comment

As a Microsoft Word user, you use the app for all kinds of things. Word can help you with work documents and even for school assignments.

Adding a PDF to a Word document may sound complicated, but it’s easier than it looks. Besides adding the PDF to the Word documents, there are also options you can choose from to modify the PDF icon.

How to Insert a PDF into a Microsoft Word Document

Once you have the Word file open, click on the Insert tab and click on the Text dropdown-menu. The menu won’t have too many options to choose from, click the Object option.

After clicking on the Object option, a new window should appear. When it does, click on the Create from File tab and choose Browse.

Once you’ve selected the PDF you want to add to the file, click on the OK button. Right below the Browser button, you have the option to insert the PDF as a linked object. To do that, check the box named Link to File.

You’ll also see an option to add an icon that’ll symbolize the file and won’t be displayed as a preview. You can check that box too if you want that as well. Both options can be checked.

To personalize the PDF icon click on the Display as icon option, followed by the Change Icon button. Once you’ve found the icon, you want to use OK to save your changes.

If what you want to do is insert the text of the PDF into the Word file, that’s also possible.

Repeat the following steps: Insert > Text > Text from File. Look for the PDF file that has the text you want to add, and after choosing it, you’ll see a message letting you know that the process could take a while. It really only takes a few seconds.

How to Add a PDF to a Microsoft Word File Using Google Docs

If the PDF you want to add to the Word document is saved in Google Docs, you’ll be happy to know there’s a download option that lets you download it directly to Microsoft Word.

Open the PDF file in Google Docs and click on the File option at the top left. Place the cursor in the Download option, and a side-window will appear with the Microsoft Word option being the first on the list.

Conclusion

It’s always a good idea to have more than one option when it comes to adding things to files. You can always just go with the option that works best for you. How often do you install PDF into your Microsoft Word files?
