Galaxy Tab S3: Enable or Disable Safe Mode

May 17, 2017 by Mitch Bartlett 5 Comments

Start the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 in Safe Mode if you wish to troubleshoot problems you are having with the device. Safe mode will temporarily start the your device with factory default software. This comes in handy in situations where you may have installed an app or modified the device in some way that disallows you access. Safe mode will allow you to boot the device, then remove the offending modification.

Turn On Safe Mode

  1. Power down the tablet.
  2. Press and hold the “Volume Down” button, Then press the “Power” button until the Galaxy Tab S3 powers on.
  3. Continue to hold down only the “Volume Down” button until the Home screen loads. You should see the words “Safe Mode” appear in the lower left corner of the screen.

Turn Off Safe Mode

  1. Press and hold the “Power” button to bring up the menu.
  2. Select “Restart“.

The tablet should restart and no longer be in Safe Mode.

FAQ

Why does my tablet start in Safe Mode every time?

Check to ensure the “Volume Down” button isn’t stuck. If you’re using a case, make sure it’s not contacting any buttons.

If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling any apps you have installed on it that may cause a problem. As a last resort, you may want to try a hard reset.

I had the same problem on my tablet to find safe mode. Fortunately I tried your advise and it works so well. Thank you.

I’ve tried all of them and it still doesn’t work! Maybe it’s because the volume down button doesn’t work anymore I don’t know. I was really excited to use my tablet since it was supposedly ‘broken’ even though the charger was the problem but when I turned it on, it was on safe mode, so I pressed the notification thing which would disable safe mode but it didn’t. And I don’t think I can get a replacement or repair since I’ve had it for at least over 8 or 9 months.
