Galaxy Tab 4: Enable or Disable Safe Mode

Start the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 in Safe Mode if you wish to troubleshoot problems you are having with the device. Safe mode will temporarily start the your device with factory default software. This comes in handy in situations where you may have installed an app or modified the device in some way that disallows you access. Safe mode will allow you to boot the device, then remove the offending modification.

Turn On Safe Mode

  1. If the device is on, turn it off.
  2. Press and hold the “Volumem Down” button, Then press the “Power” button until the Galaxy Tab 4 powers on.
  3. Continue to hold down only the “Volume Down” button until the Home screen loads. You should see the words “Safe Mode” appear in the lower left corner of the screen.

Turn Off Safe Mode

  1. Press and hold the “Power” button to bring up the menu.
  2. Select “Restart“.

The tablet should restart and no longer be in Safe Mode.

Why does my tablet start in Safe Mode every time?

Something might be wrong with it. Try uninstalling any apps you have installed on it that may cause a problem. As a last resort, you may want to try a hard reset.

Thank You, thank you so much! I did not want to do a factory reset on my galaxy tab 4. Unfortunately, I had this safe server click thing constantly popping up on my screen and thought a reset was my only option. Your instructions were very simple and best of all, worked 100%. Thanks again.
