How to Hard & Soft Reset LG Stylo 4

Mitch BartlettAugust 2, 2018 Comments (16)

Learn how to perform a soft or hard reset on the LG Stylo 4 smartphone in the event that you experience problems with the device.

Contents

  • 1 Soft Reset
  • 2 Hard Reset Button Method
  • 3 Hard Reset Menu Method

Soft Reset

A soft reset will simply restart the device. Use these steps if the Stylo 4 is frozen or not responding to input. These steps will not erase data from the device.

  • Press and hold the “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons until the device reboots.

Hard Reset Button Method

A hard reset will set all data and settings on the phone to factory defaults. These steps will erase data.

Note: If the device is changing ownership or you don’t wish to use the same Google account after the hard reset, be sure to remove the account from “General” > “Accounts”.

  1. With the phone off, press and hold the “Power/Lock” button and the “Volume Down” button.
  2. Release the “Power/Lock” button when the LG logo appears, then press and hold it again. Do this while continuing to hold the “Volume Down” button.
  3. Release both buttons once you see the “Factory data reset” option appears.
  4. Use the volume buttons to toggle the selection to “Factory data reset“. Use the “Power/Lock” button to select it.
  5. Use the volume buttons to toggle the selection to “Yes“. Use the “Power/Lock” button to select it.

Hard Reset Menu Method

Note: If the device is changing ownership or you don’t wish to use the same Google account after the hard reset, be sure to remove the account from “General” > “Accounts”.

Go to “Settings” > “General” > “Restart & reset” > “Factory data reset” > “Reset phone” > “Delete all” > “OK“.

For the past few weeks, I’ve had to do a soft reset every few days, and sometimes more often. Is there something causing this that can be fixed with something less severe than a hard reset?

I did a factory reset on my Stylo 4 and it goes through its routine and stops for me to enter a google password that I no longer have. When I did the reset, I thought that all of that Google stuff would be deleted. So now my phone is useless because I don’t have the old password the phone is asking for. What do I do?

My Stylo4 phone screen shuts down in 8 seconds. I have tried to reset time period in setting but still goes dark in 8 seconds. Doesn’t shut off if I’m watching a video. But any other action. Unless I keep my finger on the screen the screen shuts down in 8 seconds.

Brand new LG Stylo 4 is doing exactly what old one did (“old” one was less than a year old). When I want to make a call it says “dialing”. Instead of connecting and showing the seconds ticking, it goes from dialing to a bright red “call ended”. I can’t make nor recieved calls OR texts. One guy from tech support (last year) told me what buttons to hit. It turns out that if I went to “settings/general “tab”/about phone/network”, that my service state should say “in service” (it didn’t. It said roaming) and my “mobile network state” should say “connected”. It doesn’t. It says “disconnected”. I haven’t gotten this $200 piece of crap to make or receive calls in over a week. And yes….it STILL says disconnected. It’s a beautiful phone and I love all the higher end bells and whistles. It really is my favorite phone….WHEN IT WORKS. Can anybody help me get this phone working again?

My screen is frozen, and I tried soft reset and all of that. But the screen is still stuck to my home screen, and won’t change. And I’m not quite sure what to do. I restarted it, and the screen stays. The only thing I can do is turn it off, and when I turn it on again it’s still frouen

@Robyn I would do a hard reset. If that doesn’t solve the issue, there would seem to be a hardware issue with the device that would need to be fixed by LG.

I want to know why if I leave my 6 week new LG Stylo 4 sitting for a long period of time and I go to pick it up after getting a message it will turn completely black and in order to get it to open or turn on I have to do a soft reset. This happens multiple times a day. It doesn’t send or receive messages like it should because of this and I have missed some really important ones. In order to receive my messages I have to place an outbound call and once I hang up my phone goes haywire with all the messages, emails and voicemails. I work in a building the has poor reception so I turn my phone off all day. There has to be an easier fix.

My stylo 4 keeps freezing and then automatically shutting down my apps. Games to be more specific. I havent noticed it doing it when I’m scrolling facebook or my emails nor when I’m googling anything, and its not just 1 game, its several of them. Software is up to date, and hasnt been dropped or messed up in any way. Ive even deleted a couple games thinking I had it overloaded.
