Quick Tip: How to Turn off Google Assistant

Google Assistant allows you to do all sorts of tasks and get information on all sorts of topics. By saying the magic words, Google Assistant is ready to help you with whatever it is you need. It can do things such as read on-screen text tell you what the weather will be like, among others.

But, as helpful as Google Assistant is, some users may prefer to turn it off. The good news is that the steps to disable Google Assistant is quick, and if you ever change your mind, you can always turn it back on.

Disabling Google Assistant

Note: This was done on an Android device with Android 10

If you’re sure that you want to turn off Google Assistant, open your device’s Settings app and swipe down until you find the Google app. Select the app and go to:

  • Account Services
  • Search, Assistant & Voice
  • Google Assistant
  • General
  • Toggle off Google Assistant

Final Thoughts

Sometimes you may want to disable Google Assistant just to take a break from it. So, for those times when you don’t want to have to deal with anything that has to do with Google Assistant, you know how to turn it off.
