How to Install Google Wallet on Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2

Andrew MyrickDecember 2, 2022 Comments (3)

With the release of the Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2, the company introduced an all-new layout that looks more like Wear OS on the Pixel Watch. And in addition to the design and UI changes, Fitbit also announced it was making it possible to install and use Google Wallet for the first time.

Until now, the only way for you to use mobile payments on select Fitbit models was to rely on Fitbit Pay. However, this isn’t something that everyone really wanted to use, especially if you already rely on Google Wallet. Thanks to a recent update to both the Versa 4 and Sense 2, you can finally use and install Google Wallet on Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2.

How to Install Google Wallet on Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2

  1. Open the Fitbit app on the phone paired with either the Fitbit Versa 4 or Fitbit Sense 2.
  2. In the bottom toolbar, tap Today.
  3. Tap your profile image in the top left corner of the app.
  4. Select your Fitbit Versa 4 or Sense 2 from the list of devices at the top of the page.
  5. Tap Google Wallet.
  6. If prompted, sign into your Google account.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to set a 4-digit PIN to use with Google Wallet.

Just like using Google Wallet on an Android smartwatch or your Android phone, you are required to have a 4-digit PIN set up. This is done as a security measure in order to prevent unwanted purchases from being made in the event that someone else gets ahold of your phone or smartwatch.

Add A Payment Card To Google Wallet

If you are already using Google Wallet, chances are that your most commonly-used cards are already available. However, if you get a new credit card or need to replace an expired card, you can add a payment card to Google Wallet that can be then used on your Fitbit of choice. Here’s how you can add a payment card to Google Wallet:

  1. Open the Fitbit app on the phone paired with either the Fitbit Versa 4 or Fitbit Sense 2.
  2. Tap Google Wallet.
  3. Select New credit or debit card.
  4. From here, you can either scan your card with your phone’s camera or enter the details manually.
  5. When prompted, enter your card’s three-digit security code.
  6. Choose a method to verify your identity. With some banks, you can do this right from the mobile app on your phone. However, other banks might require you to verify via phone call, text, email, or another method.
  7. Enter the verification code.

Once the verification code has been entered, the new card will be added to Google Wallet. It can then be used whenever you need to make a purchase, and you can even set your new card as the “default” when using “Tap to pay”. Alternatively, Fitbit and Google have also made it easy to remove any cards from Google Wallet, without actually opening the Google Wallet app on your phone.

  1. From your Fitbit Versa 4 or Sense 2, open the Google Wallet app.
  2. Swipe through the list of cards until you locate the card you want to remove.
  3. Tap the card.
  4. In the top right corner, tap More.
  5. Tap Remove payment card.

This makes it really easy and convenient to organize the cards that you want to use for mobile payments from your Fitbit. As you might expect, you can also add or remove cards from the dedicated Google Wallet app on your phone.

You cannot currently use Google wallet on an android device to setup your versa 4.
A message stating “Something went wrong Error connecting to Versa 4, make sure that it is close by and turned on.

You can however set up Google wallet using an iOS device.

Fitbit just say wait for an update, but it’s been months now.

Hi, I am also not able to activate a card within Google Wallet for the use with my Versa 4. I would like to get rid of Google Wallet in my Fitbit app and to use Fitbit Pay directly. However I can see no way to achieve that. Even reinstalling the Fitbit app did not help.

I try and add my card to my watch and it always says something went wrong.
