You can use various types of galleries during Microsoft Teams video meetings, including Together Mode. This is an exciting layout that displays the participants in a virtual college auditorium format. Unfortunately, many users complained that Together Mode is not always available on their computers. Let’s explore what might be causing this glitch.
Why Is Together Mode Not Available on Teams?
Check How Many Cameras Are On
Keep in mind that Together mode is available only when there are five or more participants streaming video content. For example, let’s say that 15 people are attending the meeting, but only two of them have their cameras on. In this case, Together Mode is not available, or the option is greyed out. So, there’s nothing wrong with the app.
Enable New Meeting Experience
Make sure to turn on the New Meeting Experience option. Go to Teams Settings, and click on General. Then turn on New Meeting Experience. Restart Teams and check if you can enable Together Mode now.
By the way, if the New Meeting Experience is missing, you can use this troubleshooting guide to fix the problem.
Clear the App Cache
- Exit Microsoft Teams completely (right-click the app icon and select Quit).
- Then type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams in the Windows Search bar and hit Enter.
- Open the Teams folder and delete all the files stored there.
- Restart Teams and check if the issue is gone.
Update Teams or Reinstall the App
Make sure you’re running the newest Teams app version on your computer. Click on your profile picture and select Check for updates. Restart the app and check the results.
If you still can’t enable Together Mode, uninstall Teams, restart your computer and reinstall the app.
