If there is one thing you have a lot of on your Android device is contacts. You could use the contacts app that came with your phone, but it may not offer all the features you need. Also, you may get tired of looking at the same design and want a change.

Free Android Contacts Apps

The good news is that there is various free contact app you can choose from. If, after trying the app, you see that it’s not the one for you, all you have to do is uninstall it. Some contact apps will keep things simple, and others will have various features you can apply to your contacts or the app.

1. Contacts++

Contacts++ Android App

Contacts++ is free to use, but you can unlock other features by subscribing to the Pro plan. When you first install the app, it asks you to make it the default app for your contacts and SMS. The app offers features such as:

  • Caller ID
  • Calls and SMS spam block
  • White/Dark themes
  • Speed dial – double-tap to call
  • Fast dialer search
  • Smart contacts sort
  • Birthday reminders
  • Merge duplicate contacts

You can also block specific calls. For example, in the Block numbers section, you can block all known spammers, don’t block saved contacts, block private numbers, and notify when blocking numbers.

You can search for your messages in three sections: Inbox, Unread, and Blocked.

2. Contacts, Phone Dialer, and Caller ID: drupe

Another that offers valuable features is Contacts, Phone Dialer, and Caller ID: drupe. After setting the necessary permissions, the app gives you a brief tour of what it can do. For example, it’ll tell you to swipe the dots to the right, then swipe a contact to an action you want the app to perform. You can choose from tasks such as:

  • Calling
  • Send SMS
  • WhatsApp
  • Set a reminder for that contact
  • Send email
  • Navigate to
  • Video call

Tap on the phone icon at the bottom left to bring up the dialer and a calculator. You can access more options by upgrading to Pro. You’ll always have access to the app since there will be floating dots on your home screen for easy access. By going to the app’s settings, you can enable and so things such as:

  • Default view
  • Applications order
  • Enable dual-sim support
  • Thumb-swipe
  • Show floating contact notes
  • Configure call screen
  • Enable caller ID
  • Adjust call blocker
  • Choose theme
  • Change font size
  • Change sound and more.

3. Covve

Covve Contact App

Covve gives you the option of creating an account or continuing using the app as a guest. The app has unique features like people-based reminders. For example, if you want to be reminded about someone’s birthday, you can set a reminder for that.

You can also have the app remind you to stay in touch with your most important contacts. There’s also an option to create notes, organize your network with tags, track your activity in the app, and you can scan business cards. 4. Simple Contacts

Simple Contacts

If you don’t need all those features and simply want a contact app that keeps things simple, then try Simple Contacts. The app organizes your contacts in three tabs: Contacts, Favorites, and Groups. You can create a new contact by tapping on the plus icon at the bottom right.

To each contact, you can add things such as:

  • Notes
  • Birthday
  • Address
  • Email
  • Name
  • Phone Number

By going to the app’s settings, you can do things such as Only show contacts with phone numbers, start the name with surname, show a call dialog before calling, and other useful options.

5. Dialer, Phone, Call Block, and Contacts by Simpler

Simpler Contact App

Dialer, Phone, Call Block, and Contacts by Simpler is another app that keeps things simple. You’ll see three tabs at the top: Favorites, Recents, and Contacts. You’ll find the dial pad at the bottom right and the option to create a new contact at the top (plus icon). You can also change the theme of the app by tapping on the dots at the top right and choosing the theme color option.

By going to the app’s settings, you can access other options such as style, caller ID, contact list, dialer, and notifications.

Even if you don’t have a lot of contacts, it’s still a good idea to have them organized. You can use the integrated contacts app on your Android device or use a third-party app. Each app offers different features that can help you with your organization.
