Troubleshooting Blink App When Camera is Offline

Troubleshooting Blink App When Camera is Offline

By Mona 18 Comments

Blink cameras have become very common in our society today. This is mainly because of their contribution to the security sector. Blink cameras may be used as either indoor cameras or outdoor cameras. They can be set to record activities taking place at a given area at a particular time. Blink cameras are usually small in size and can’t be easily noted by intruders. Blink cameras may tend to malfunction, and this can be very hectic at times, especially when they go off. In this article, we will take a look at the troubleshooting of the Blink App when the Blink camera is offline.

Why Blink Cameras go Offline

There are several causes why Blink cameras go offline. One of the reasons is a power failure, as it is an electric gadget that operates using electricity. When the power goes off definitely, the Blink camera will automatically be offline. Another reason that may make the camera go offline is a defect. Like all other electric gadgets, Blink cameras may malfunction. The Blink camera cannot work without Wi-Fi. Thus, it will go offline when the connection drops off.

How to Troubleshoot the Blink Camera when Offline

The Blink camera cannot function when the Wi-Fi connection is off or when the Sync Module on the App is not active. When the camera’s blue light is on, it is an indication that it is recording activities in its field of view. When there is an error, the Sync Module indicates this by releasing a red light. When a defect is noted in the Blink camera, it should be rectified as soon as possible to maintain the efficiency of the camera. One of the ways is trying to reconnect your Blink camera to the Blink camera application. The Blink Sync Module can be reset and rebooted to setup mode by pressing and holding the reset button until a red light shows. This process usually takes between 15 seconds to half a minute.

Router

The most common troubleshooting option is to reconnect your Blink camera to your Wi-Fi. You can also try to reboot the router. This is a good troubleshooting step, especially when the Wi-Fi connection is not stable. When one reboots the router, the internet connection will go off for a while then turn on again. A connection of the Blink camera to the Blink App will then be established.

Signal

Trying to check the Wi-Fi signal transmission will also help. This can be done directly from the application. The Wi-Fi signal is maybe not reaching the camera because of some obstacles such as walls or other obstructions that may be blocking the signal. Try to adjust the signal frequency form the app, and minimize the number of obstructions present.

Factory Setting

Another troubleshooting step is to restore the Blink camera app back to factory settings. This mainly helps when some camera settings were altered without your prior knowledge. By factory resetting the camera, all backdrops will be turned to default. This is the best option to go for in case all others have failed.

When you have tried all options possible, and none has worked, you should consider contacting your supplier or the manufacturer. By doing this, you will get expert guidance on how to handle the issue.

Get Your Blink Camera Back On

Having been enlightened on the actions one may undertake while troubleshooting the Blink camera App issues, it is now easy to put the steps into action. Try your best to get your Blink camera back online. With your Blink camera and Blink App back on, you will get to keep an eye on things easily.

My camera disconnects at the same time every night for about 4 hours, but for me that’s the most important time it should be working, I’m single mum who wanted to security for night time

These cameras are junk. I have three blink cameras, and they constantly go offline. I put new batteries in all the cameras, reset the sync module as well as deleted and reset up the system. They still go offline. It seems the only way they actually work, is if you buy their cloud storage, which I opted not to do. What a total scam. They get you to buy their crappy cameras, and then surprise, you need to pay a monthly cloud storage fee! Meanwhile, Jeff Besos is raking in BILLIONS off this junk! If I had read these reviews prior to dropping a few hundred dollars on this junk, I would have bought better cameras.
Buyer beware. My advice, buy better cameras as these stink.

I have 3 outdoor cameras and 1 indoor camera.. They all went offline and I can’t get them back on line. My sync module is on line has steady green and steady blue. How can I get the cameras back on line?

My blink went off one evening so I replaced the batteries with the proper ones. I didn’t have a power outage so figured it was the batteries. I have been trying for a week to get it back online. Not working.
I am very frustrated. Nothing seems to work. I have done everything that it says to do. I give up.

My mini three cameras worked fine for several weeks then two days ago went “offline” and I haven’t been able to get them back on despite trying all the recommendations. The weak part of the whole Blink system appears to be the abysmal support which essentially non-existent and based on the assumption that all problems lie with the user which reading the comments here and elsewhere make me think it’s actually them. All my WiFi devices work fine in the same environment EXCEPT Blink! Sorry I bought this junk!

When I first set it up it worked fine. Now after hours of trying different things with 2 cameras neither one wil work. Very frustrating. Not worth the time and effort. Called tech support twice and no return call Junk

Both my cameras went offline at the same time 2 days ago(strange). I’ve gone through the steps recommended of restarting the router, unplugging the sync module and plugging in again, taking out the batteries for 5 seconds and reinstalling. Cameras are still offline and one is blinking red now (wasn’t before). Now what?

NOT AT ALL. I have two blink cameras and one works Fine ALL THE TIME. One is reset by me, works a little while the dead again. Both are one room apart from the room where WiFi modem is… Both are power cord, indoors and not battery powered. I also have another brand camera, never has lost signal.

I am having the same problem, at my second address my internet is working just fine. My sync module keeps going offline. I think my sync module is defective. I have the service at my home without any issue.

I agree with DANIEL BARBUCK my blink cameras worked for two months then “offline” after tech support wanted me to get to my roof mounted cameras (impossible) the app discovered a congestion in my internet feed. no BLINK that is not the case. everything else is working just fine except…you (BTW I’m using my fast internet to type this message) I FEEL REALLY SAFE

No, four computers, TV, several printers, two tablets and two phones connected to WI FI network. None are having trouble except the Blink camera. I reconnect it to the network and the next day its offline, happens constantly and its not a network issue. FYI, it has nothing to do with lost power, power spikes, or anything else connected to power. The tr- band router, modem, and internet connections are working fine.

My outdoor camera was recording while the system is disarmed thus creating a large volume of recording & alerting me!
