Troubleshooting Blink App When Camera is Offline

Posted on May 5, 2020 by Mona 2 Comments

Blink cameras have become very common in our society today. This is mainly because of their contribution to the security sector. Blink cameras may be used as either indoor cameras or outdoor cameras. They can be set to record activities taking place at a given area at a particular time. Blink cameras are usually small in size and can’t be easily noted by intruders. Blink cameras may tend to malfunction, and this can be very hectic at times, especially when they go off. In this article, we will take a look at the troubleshooting of the Blink App when the Blink camera is offline.

Why Blink Cameras go Offline

There are several causes why Blink cameras go offline. One of the reasons is a power failure, as it is an electric gadget that operates using electricity. When the power goes off definitely, the Blink camera will automatically be offline. Another reason that may make the camera go offline is a defect. Like all other electric gadgets, Blink cameras may malfunction. The Blink camera cannot work without Wi-Fi. Thus, it will go offline when the connection drops off.

How to Troubleshoot the Blink Camera when Offline

The Blink camera cannot function when the Wi-Fi connection is off or when the Sync Module on the App is not active. When the camera’s blue light is on, it is an indication that it is recording activities in its field of view. When there is an error, the Sync Module indicates this by releasing a red light. When a defect is noted in the Blink camera, it should be rectified as soon as possible to maintain the efficiency of the camera. One of the ways is trying to reconnect your Blink camera to the Blink camera application. The Blink Sync Module can be reset and rebooted to setup mode by pressing and holding the reset button until a red light shows. This process usually takes between 15 seconds to half a minute.

Router

The most common troubleshooting option is to reconnect your Blink camera to your Wi-Fi. You can also try to reboot the router. This is a good troubleshooting step, especially when the Wi-Fi connection is not stable. When one reboots the router, the internet connection will go off for a while then turn on again. A connection of the Blink camera to the Blink App will then be established.

Signal

Trying to check the Wi-Fi signal transmission will also help. This can be done directly from the application. The Wi-Fi signal is maybe not reaching the camera because of some obstacles such as walls or other obstructions that may be blocking the signal. Try to adjust the signal frequency form the app, and minimize the number of obstructions present.

Factory Setting

Another troubleshooting step is to restore the Blink camera app back to factory settings. This mainly helps when some camera settings were altered without your prior knowledge. By factory resetting the camera, all backdrops will be turned to default. This is the best option to go for in case all others have failed.

When you have tried all options possible, and none has worked, you should consider contacting your supplier or the manufacturer. By doing this, you will get expert guidance on how to handle the issue.

Get Your Blink Camera Back On

Having been enlightened on the actions one may undertake while troubleshooting the Blink camera App issues, it is now easy to put the steps into action. Try your best to get your Blink camera back online. With your Blink camera and Blink App back on, you will get to keep an eye on things easily.
