How to Use Pixel Watch to Find Your Phone

How to Use Pixel Watch to Find Your Phone

November 25, 2022 by Andrew Myrick Leave a Comment

One of the worst and most frustrating things to experience is when you misplace something. Unless you are using something like a Tile Tracker or AirTag, you’re kind of out of luck if you lose your keys. But what if you lose your phone? Well, smartphone makers have been implementing different options that aim to make the process of finding your phone easier than ever. And if you are using a smartwatch, then this provides you with yet another alternative method.

With Google’s release of the Pixel Watch, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that there would be some type of “find my phone” functionality. Thankfully, Google delivered, making it easy to find your phone in the event that you temporarily misplaced it.

How to Use Pixel Watch to Find Your Phone

In order to use Pixel Watch to find your phone, there are a few requirements that need to be met first. The most obvious of these is that the phone paired with your Pixel Watch still has a sufficient charge and is powered on. Then, it must be within Bluetooth range of your Pixel Watch.

Considering that the Pixel Watch is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, this offers 4x the range from the previous iteration, as it’s now capable of staying connected from 800 feet away. Of course, that distance is in a controlled and “perfect” scenario and doesn’t account for any interference. That being said, chances are that as long as you didn’t drive away from a location leaving your phone behind, you’ll still be able to use Pixel Watch to find your phone.

Coming as a bit of a surprise, Google has actually implemented two different methods for trying to find your phone using the Pixel Watch. And here’s how you can do so:

  1. From your Pixel Watch, press the haptic crown.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the Quick Settings toggles.
  3. Locate and tap the icon that looks like a phone with circles protruding from the side.
  4. Listen for the sounds coming from your phone to locate it.

A Second Method

As we mentioned, a second method is available to use Pixel Watch to find your phone.

  1. From your Pixel Watch, press the haptic crown.
  2. Press the haptic crown a second time to reveal the list of installed apps.
  3. Swipe down until you find the Find my phone application.
  4. Tap the selection in your list of installed apps.
  5. Listen for the sounds coming from your phone to locate it.

Another nice touch that Google provides is that your phone will still emit a sound when trying to locate it, even if your phone was set to Do Not Disturb or notifications were silenced. In the event that you happen to be out of range of your Android phone, you can always rely on Google’s ‘Find My Device’ interface on your computer in order to pinpoint exactly where it is.
