Galaxy S7: How to Block Incoming Callers

April 13, 2016 by Mitch Bartlett 17 Comments

If you are getting calls that you don’t want to deal with, you can block them on your Samsung Galaxy S7.

Method 1

  1. Open the “Phone” app.
  2. Select “More” located at the upper-right corner.
  3. Select “Settings“.
  4. Tap “Call blocking“.
  5. Choose “Block list“.
  6. Enter the phone number you wish to block, then tap the plus (+) sign.

Method 2

  1. Open the “Phone” app.
  2. Tap a phone number in the “Recent” list.
  3. Select “More” located at the upper-right corner.
  4. Tap “Add to block list“.

Callers on the block list will be sent directly to voicemail. Your phone will not ring. You will receive a notification that the caller called.

If you wish to completely block a caller, you may want to explore options provided by your wireless carrier or a third party app such as Call Blocker or Calls Blacklist.

I block several annoying numbers that call up to 10 times a day, but the phone keeps ringing even when blocked. Is there a way to stop the constant ringing of unwanted calls.

This method does not work on my S7 Edge. The phone still rings/vibrates AND they can still leave a message even electronically. This is not helpful. I do not want to hear the ring/vibrate OR have to deal with deleting these irritating messages.

Since the update on my Samsung Galaxy S7, blocking calls is impossible with just a few clicks! Not happy with update!

ON my Android Samsung 7 I changed the voicemail number to a fake number under phone settings and again under More settings, call forward. I notified my friends to text me if they needed anything, voicemail no longer works.

Samsung what good is blocking phone numbers if people are still able to leave voicemail messages????!!
WTH?? With all the technological advances and bells and whistles you guys are adding to the galaxy phones, you’d think this BASIC thing wouldn’t be a problem. This is just dumb!

I don’t understand why we have to listen to voice mails from numbers that are already blocked ! I tried turning off this setting, but the change would not go through. Come on, on my S4 I could block phone number, text and calls AND the rejected calls did not go to voice mail. Now I understand why some people don’t set up their voice mail! AAARRRRHHHH

This feature does not work for me. I want to get the notification but have them go straight to voicemail and still receive text messages but it doesn’t work

Samsung blockheads! Do you not understand that block calls means you don’t want to recieve that call…at all….in any form……..ever!
Why should you have to download an app to block calls properly Samsung?

Even though I have blocked numbers on my phone they are still able to get around this & call my phone. It rings they never leave a message. This is all day & everyday. I blocked these tele marketing numbers so I would not have to be bothered by them or the ringing phone. So why won’t a block be blocked??

    Hello.

    Can someone please advise.

When you block someone’s text messages, do they get some sort of notification? I see if they call it goes straight to voicemail. What happens though when they text? Do they get any type of notification you blocked their text?

I miss the wildcard feature in the S4. Could block a whole area code or numbers that start, end or contain certain numbers. Great if a lot of spam calls are coming from the same general numbers. Really wish Samsung would add that to the S7 with the next update.

I would REALLY love to know the answer to this too. I don’t understand why we have to be notified a blocked # called. It’s just bothersome and would love to get rid of it.

I love this feature. However, it is so annoying to get the notifications when someone I have blocked has called. After all, I blocked their calls so I am not bothered by them, but then I’m still annoyed by the notification that they attempted to call me yet again. Is there a way to disable notifications for blocked calls?
