Galaxy Note 5: Enable or Disable Auto Screen Rotation

Galaxy Note 5: Enable or Disable Auto Screen Rotation

By Mitch Bartlett 30 Comments

We show you two ways you can access the automatic screen rotate setting on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 smartphone.

Option 1 – Quick Menu

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the notification bar.
  2. Select “Auto rotate” to toggle the rotation setting. It will be green in color when rotation is turned on, gray when turned off.

Note: If you do not see “Auto rotate”, you may have to scroll left or select “Edit” (pencil icon) while the notification bar is open.

Option 2 – Settings

  1. From the Home screen, select “Apps” and select “Settings“.
  2. Select “Display and wallpaper“.
  3. Select “Screen rotation“
  4. Choose “Rotate screen content” or “Stay in portrait view” as desired.

FAQ

Why don’t I have these options on my Note 5?

It appears some builds do not include the option to lock or unlock screen rotation. In this case, you may want to download and install the Ultimate Rotation Control app to control rotation on your device.

I did not see auto rotate on the pull down screen but I did see the portrait icon. It was enabled so, when I tapped on that, it switched to and enabled auto rotate.

It is probably set on “portrait” mode.
Drop down top menu, and on the second line of options, if it says portrait, push it.

Super. Thanks for the note. I wasn’t sure if that fix was a fluke that just worked for me once. I’m glad it worked out!

Thanks Mitch, Options 1 and 2 did not work when I tried them on my wife’s Galaxy Note 5, however, the Ultimate Rotation Control App worked. Thanks for solving this frustrating problem.

Thanks Donny I knew there was a simpler way because I found the answer nowhere in the article. When you click settings there is no “display and wallpaper”… On the Note 4 yes but not note 5. All they had to say was click on “portrait”.

I found a way to restore the rotation functionality.

Install a rotation app from the google play store. Run it for a few minutes. After you run it, go back to the samsung app and you should see the original samsung rotation icon.
Uninstall the play store rotation app.

    Fixed.

Thanks for the messages presented to help us with galaxy note 5 auto rotation, but I have tried the first option, which I can only get, to slide the screen down and click on auto rotate when the bar turns green or gray, it didn’t work, and am so miserable plz help with another option, because the second one given, to go to apps then setting, then display and wallpaper, I don’t have display and wallpapers

Swiped down on the top of home screen
Tap the icon that says portrait and it will change to rotate (vice versa )
