System/360 is the name of a line of mainframe computers that was introduced by IBM in 1964. It pioneered a series of key innovations in technology – these include the use of integrated circuits, extended software compatibility and input/output channels with more capabilities than before. In practical use, this line of computers pioneered microprogramming and served another purpose along with its tech abilities: marketing.
