Windows 10: Enable/Disable Game Mode

Windows 10: Enable/Disable Game Mode

Posted on March 31, 2020 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

Game Mode is a neat Windows 10 feature that helps your computer perform better when you play games – by assigning resources primarily to gaming tasks while a game is running. This can increase your game performance, but it can also negatively affect the performance of tasks other than your games – and if you don’t want that, you may always find it more convenient to turn it off instead.

This can be done with just a few clicks.

First, press the Windows key on your keyboard or click on the start button on your taskbar. Click on the cogwheel on the bottom left of the menu that pops up.

Settings option

A new window will open up with several different settings options for you to choose from – click on the one labelled Gaming featuring the Xbox symbol. A new menu will open up with game-related settings to choose from.

Use the menu on the left to navigate to Game Mode.

Game Mode options

Once you’re here, it’s as easy as sliding the bar at the top to the Off Setting – Game mode will be disabled! Of course, if you want to turn it back on, simply put the slider back into the On position.
