Windows 10: Enable/Disable Bluetooth

Windows 10: Enable/Disable Bluetooth

By Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

Bluetooth can be a great technology for connecting your computer or laptop to some speakers, or a mouse or keyboard. However, it’s not something that you always need, or want, to be switched on. Turning Bluetooth off can even help save some battery life when you’re away from a power source. Thankfully turning Bluetooth on and off is really simple.

There are two easy methods to turn Bluetooth on and off. The first is in the notifications panel. To open the notifications panel, click on the speech bubble next to the clock in the taskbar. At the bottom of the panel click on the panel with the Bluetooth symbol in it. If this square is lit up, Bluetooth is turned on. Conversely, if the square is dim, Bluetooth is off.

Click the Bluetooth square once to switch Bluetooth on or off.

Don’t worry if you’ve disabled the notification panel on your computer, there’s still another really easy way to switch Bluetooth on and off. Press the Windows key to open up the start bar, type “Bluetooth” and press enter. This will open the Settings app on the Bluetooth configuration page. Right at the top of this page is a switch to enable and disable Bluetooth, just click it once to turn it on or off.

Open the Bluetooth settings in the Settings app then click the slider to turn it on or off.
