For most phone users, having their apps and system use a darker color scheme is nicer – it’s easier on the eyes, less disruptive in a darker environment, and often also aesthetically more popular.
Well, some time ago, WhatsApp added a dark mode to their app – and activating it is incredibly easy!
Go to the Settings in your app by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of your conversation overview on Android, and in the bottom right corner on iOS. Select the Chats option and then Theme in the next menu. Here you have three options – Dark, Light, and System Default.
Tip: On iOS there is a chance you won’t have the option to switch to dark mode – if so, you may have to wait for a newer version update on your device. The option is being rolled out across older models and devices.

System Default means that WhatsApp automatically selects the color scheme based on what your phone is set to. The other two options are self-explanatory!
Once you’ve picked your option, go back and click on any chat to see the full extent of dark mode!
