What You Can’t Do If You Don’t Accept WhatsApps New Terms and Conditions

What You Can’t Do If You Don’t Accept WhatsApps New Terms and Conditions

Posted on May 23, 2021 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

WhatsApp keeps pushing back the date when all who want to continue using the popular messaging app have to accept their new terms and conditions. Only time will tell when the real deadline will come and when it comes, you’ll need to decide if you accept those new terms and conditions.

WhatsApp has already said that those who don’t accept the new terms and conditions will see how their use of the app becomes limited. What are those things WhatsApp won’t let you do anymore if you don’t accept? Can you continue to enjoy the app and not use those features? Let’s see what you can’t do if you don’t accept.

No Access to Chats

One thing you won’t be able to do if you don’t accept is that you won’t access your WhatsApp chats. So, if you have any important info you usually go back and check from time to time, it would be a good idea to save that text elsewhere or take a screenshot.

But a workaround would be responding to your WhatsApp messages through your notifications. If you can live without opening the app to answer messages, you should be fine. This will also work for calls and video calls as well.

Calls and Notifications

If, after a few weeks, you still decided not to accept the new terms and conditions, you’ll stop receiving calls and notifications. If you hardly use WhatsApp for calls, then this might be much of a problem. The issue here is that you won’t get the notifications anymore, which will mean that you’ll miss out on important messages.

In the beginning, WhatsApp will send your those constant reminders to accept the new terms and conditions with the option to close the message by tapping on the X. But, if you keep closing them, you’ll soon see how that X to close the reminder will disappear. Leaving you only with the option to accept the terms and conditions.

You may have heard that WhatsApp would close the accounts of those who didn’t accept. Well, there’s no need to worry since WhatsApp is not going to do that. If you feel like WhatsApp has gone too far and you’re ready to move on, WhatsApp has instructions on how you can export your information elsewhere.

Conclusion

WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app out there. Most people don’t completely move to another one because most of their contacts are on WhatsApp. It’s hard to get most of your contacts to move to another messaging app, and that’s why many may feel like they have no choice but to accept. What are your thoughts on WhatsApp’s new terms and conditions? Do you think you’ll end up accepting them anyway? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and don’t forget to share the article with others on social media.
