What is Airplane Mode on Android?
Flight Mode is an option that will cut all signal transmissions from the device you’re using. You’ll know you have it on because you’ll see an airplane icon on your notification bar. Things such as WiFi, radio, and Bluetooth signals won’t be available.
You won’t be able to make any calls or receive them unless you’re using WiFi Calling, but this is something you have to set up with your carrier. Instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp can still be used. Your Android device won’t look for any WiFi networks to connect to, and it won’t connect to any networks you’ve used before. Since Bluetooth won’t work on airplane mode, you won’t be able to connect your device to accessories such as headphones, speakers, etc.
Just because your enabled airplane mode doesn’t mean you can’t turn on Bluetooth and the WiFi option. Until you turn off airplane mode, your device won’t receive any cell signals. The more recent your device is, the better when using airplane mode since they are made. Even if you’re using Bluetooth at the time, the connection won’t drop even if you turn on airplane mode.
GPS signals could still work even if your airplane mode is on. It all depends on the device you’re using.
What Airplane Mode Allows You to Do
Even with airplane mode on, you can still play your offline games. What you will notice that’ll disappear are the annoying ads. Since you’re not connected to the Internet, you won’t have to see those ads.
Airplane mode is also a great way to help your device charge faster, and you can also continue to use your alarms. So if you want a notification-free night, you can turn on airplane mode and not be late for work the next day.
Listening to music is also possible on Airplane mode. But, it’s only possible if you’re subscribed to a music streaming service like Spotify Premium that allows this feature. So, even if you have airplane mode on, you can still listen to your favorite songs.
Airplane mode is also a great way to prevent your kids from accidentally pressing the wrong buttons and buying something online. By having it on, your kids won’t be able to go online and do things you’ll have to pay for later.
