After a brief look at the Samsung Galaxy S5, we realized that the one of our favorite features are missing from the device. The ability to add lock screen widgets is very limited on this version of the popular smartphone by default.
There are a few options available for customizing the Lock Screen located at the following location:
- From the Home screen, select the “Settings” icon.
- Choose “Lock screen“
- From there, your options may vary depending on which carrier you have. The options listed on our version were as follows:
- Screen lock
- Dual clock
- Clock size
- Show date
- Camera shortcut
- Owner information
- Unlock effect
- Additional information
- Help text
So really, you’re limited to a Camera widget if you’re lucky.
We’re not sure why Samsung decides to remove the cool widget adding ability from the Galaxy S5, but you do have third-party options. Our favorite so far is the MagicLocker Main app. Once installed, you have the ability to easily modify the Lock Screen to have Live Wallpaper, Shortcuts, and music controls for a desired music player.
