How to Use Vivaldi Browser on Android

How to Use Vivaldi Browser on Android

By Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

Vivaldi for Android hasn’t been around as long as it has for desktop, but it made its way to all Android devices. Since it is relatively new, Vivaldi for Android doesn’t have as many features as the desktop version. However, you’ll still get the same design.

Vivaldi on Android does have features such as Capture, Speed Dials, Panels, and Notes. These are just a few of the features the browser has to offer. Let’s see what else it can do.

How to Change Search Engines in Vivaldi for Android

By default, Vivaldi on Android will have Bing as its search engine. If you prefer a different one, you’ll need to go into the browser’s setting to change it. You can open settings by:

  • Tapping on the V at the top right
  • Tap on Settings
  • Under the General tab, select the Search engine option
  • Choose your preferred search engine

How to Stop Vivaldi from Saving Passwords

Just like Chrome, Vivaldi browser can also save your passwords. If you prefer that it doesn’t keep track of them, go to Settings > Passwords > Toggle off Save passwords. You can also prevent the browser from login you in automatically; simply uncheck the box next to the option.

How to Add a New Bookmark in Vivaldi Browser

There are always going to be sites that you regularly visit. To avoid typing the URL every time you want to access it, you can always bookmark that site.

There are two ways you can add a bookmark. You can either go to the site you want to bookmark > tap on the V at the top right and choose the Bookmark page option. If you selected the site correctly, there would be a blue star to the right.

A second way of bookmarking a site is to enter the URL manually. Tap on the black and white rectangle at the bottom left of your display.

In the next window, there will be an option called New at the bottom-right, select it. Type in the name, URL, description, and nickname of the site, and you’re good to go.

As you can see in the image above, by tapping on the black and white rectangle, you can quickly access all of your bookmarks. Erase pre-existing folders, long-press on the folder, and tap on the trash icon at the top right.

How to Rename and Move a Folder

When you access the folder in the browser, there will be quite a few with pre-determined names. If you prefer that they have another name, you can change the name by tapping on the rectangle on the bottom-left of your screen.

Long-press on the folder whose name you want to change and press the pencil icon. There will also be an option to add it to the speed dial for faster access.

How to Find Recent Tabs in Vivaldi

It’s happened to all of us, you close a tab only to realize you need to reaccess it. To see your recent tab list, tap on the V at the top right, and choose Recent tabs. Vivaldi will only show you a few by default, but tap on Show full history to see the complete list.

How to Create Notes on Vivaldi

You can go ahead and uninstall that notes app, Vivaldi has you covered when it comes to note-taking. To create your notes, tap on the black and white rectangle at the bottom left-hand corner and tap on the notes icon at the top.

Vivaldi for Android will also provide you with an option to add anything you copy from the web to your notes. You can choose just to copy it or paste the text onto a Note.

How to Open a Private Tab in Vivaldi

A private tab is another name for Incognito. By opening a private tab, all your searches, sites visited temporary files, and cookies won’t be saved by the browser. Tap on the square at the bottom right that’s in charge of letting you know how many tabs you have open.

Tap on the key icon at the top, followed by the plus sign at the bottom. Type the URL of the site you want to go to, and congratulations, you’ve gone private. For security reasons, the app won’t allow you to take screenshots.

Conclusion

Vivaldi for Android is something that Android users have been waiting for, but it still could use more features. Hopefully, Android users won’t have to wait long for more useful features. What feature would you like Vivaldi to add next? Let me know in the comments below.
