The Fastest Way to Access a Folder on Google Drive

Posted on May 5, 2021 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

When you’re in a hurry, the faster you can access your Google Drive files, the better. The advantage of having faster access to important files is that you save valuable time. This is especially useful if you have many files on Drive and always have difficulty finding specific files.

How to Create a Shortcut to Any Google Drive File – Android

Since you’re probably on your Android device most of the time, here’s how you can create direct access to any file on Google Drive. Open Drive and, for one last time, find that file you always have a hard time finding.

Once you’ve found it, tap on the dots to the right of the file. When you see additional options, swipe up to see the rest. The one you need to find and tap on is called Add to Home Screen.

Hopefully, Google Drive will add more options in the future, but the icon you see on your home screen will only be one. So, unfortunately, you don’t have a choice when it comes to style. You can drag the icon to a specific part of the home screen, or you can tap on the Add automatically option. The icon will be seen in the first available place it can find.

If you ever change your mind and want to move the icon elsewhere, simply long-press on the icon and slide it to its new position. You can also completely remove it, long-press on it and swipe it towards to top, and place it and where it says remove and let go.

If you have more than one file, you need fast access to repeat this method for each file. You can start by placing the top three most used files first and then by order of how often you access them.

Conclusion

As you can see, having fast access to important files doesn’t take very long. With a few taps here and there, you can access those files in no time. Are the files you’re going to need to create a shortcut for work-related? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
