Skype: Share Computer Screen

Posted on February 21, 2020 by Mel Hawthorne Leave a Comment

One of Skype’s best functions is the ability to share screens while on a call. It’s incredibly easy too, and here is how.

First, you need to be on a call in order to be able to set up the screen share. Make sure your call is connected and active. Then, click on the three dots in the bottom right corner for some additional call options.

Start sharing your screen.

Among them is the option ‘Share Screen’. Click on it and you’ll be asked to approve the screen share. You’ll have the option to share your computer sound as well.

Tip: No matter what you show on the screen, the other party won’t be able to interact with your screen at all. They will, however, be able to see confidential information if it is visible, so always exercise caution when using this feature with people you don’t know too well.

When you’re ready to share your screen, click the button.

Approve the screen share with or without sound.

Your screen will have a yellow border around the very outside edge, showing that you are sharing your screen. While this border is present, the other person can see what you are looking at. If you want to terminate the screen share, you can end the call, or use the three dots again.

End the screen share whenever you’d like.

Click on the option ‘Stop Sharing’, and the yellow bar will disappear – the other person won’t be able to see your screen anymore. To reactivate the share, you have to repeat the steps above.
