Turn Selfies Into a Work of Art With Google’s Art & Culture App

Turn Selfies Into a Work of Art With Google’s Art & Culture App

November 9, 2020 by Judy Sanhz Leave a Comment

Whether you like taking pictures or not, there’s a good chance that you’ve taken quite a few selfies. If you are a picture addict, then you’ve gone the extra mile of adding effects to your selfies. You’ve added filters and all kinds of stickers to give your selfie your personal touch.

To add those effects to your selfies, the options of a third-party app were probably used. If you go to Google Play for selfie effect options, there are quite a few to choose from since not all apps offer the same options. But, have you ever wanted to turn your selfie into a work of art?

How to Add Art Filters to Your Selfies

The Google Arts & Culture app is a fun app to use if you’ve ever wondered what you would look like as a piece of art. When you first open the app, you’re going to see a series of art filters you can try. If you want to try out the selfie art filter, it will be the first option on the list.

There aren’t a lot of art selfie filters to choose from, but the available ones are fun to use. For example, you can turn yourself into Frida Kahlo (with a spider-monkey on the side), Vincent van Gogh, Girl with a Pearl Earring, or you can wear jewelry such as a Faience collar necklace, or a helmet with a tengu mask and crows.

For now, you can only use two accessories and three self-portrait filters. But, hopefully, Google will add more filters shortly. Other fun filters you can try on the app is giving anything you take a picture of an art like look.

Filter Options

You can use filter such as:

  • Anatomical Studies
  • The Farewell Telemachus and Eucharis
  • Ireses
  • Floor
  • Portrait of Leonilla, Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn
  • Portrait of Agostino Pallavicini
  • Engraved Scaraboid with a Grasshopper
  • The Interior of Saint Bavo
  • Chestnut tree
  • The Scream
  • Man from Naples
  • People by Lee Ungno
  • The Heart of the Universe
  • Any Warhol Self Portrait
  • The Great Wave off Kanagawa
  • Vincent van Gogh self-portrait
  • Improvisation 26 (Rowing)
  • Free South Africa by Keith Haring
  • Composition of Circles and Overlapping Angels
  • Sound of Tsuzumi
  • Frida Kahlo
  • The Fall of the Rebel Angels
  • Ninfee rosa
  • Mona Lisa and more!

If you like how the filters look, tap on the blue share button at the bottom, and choose to share or save the picture. There’s also a retake option just in case you want a do-over. At the top, you’ll have the option to keep your pictures as a still or a GIF.

It’s not an obligation to add the art filter to the entire image. At the top right, there’s a scissor icon where you can cut out the part of the image you want to add the filter to.

Conclusion

This art filter app is a lot of fun if you’re an art fan. You have quite a few filters to choose from and enjoy what the art world has to offer. Which filter was your favorite?
