How to Take Screenshot on Samsung Galaxy S8+

By Mitch Bartlett 1 Comment

If you need to capture an image of the screen on the Samsung Galaxy S8, you can take a screenshot using a simple button combination. This feature is most useful when used with apps like SnapChat or Messenger. We tell you everything you need to know in this tutorial.

Taking the Screenshot

To take a screenshot on the Galaxy S8, press the “Home” and “Power” buttons simultaneously. Hold the buttons down for about 2 seconds. If done correctly, the phone will vibrate and a message will appear in the notification bar. If it’s not working for you, some users have had luck trying pressing the “Home” button just slightly before pressing “Power“. It’s a bit tricky, but keep practicing and you’ll eventually get it right.

Viewing the Screenshot Image File

Once you have successfully taken the screenshot, it will be saved to the phone’s memory. You can view the screenshot by doing one of the following:

  • Open the “Gallery” app, then select the “Screenshots” folder.
  • Connect the Galaxy S8 to your computer. Once the phone is discovered by your PC, you can navigate to the “Phone” memory. From there, open the “Pictures” > “Screenshots” folder.

Hi. I have a SGS8, Android Pie, 9.0. After the last security update from TMobile (Security Patch Level Mar 1, 2020, installed 3/26/20), I am no longer able to use the combo keys of Power & Volume Up keys to take a screenshot. I now have to use the “Palm Swipe/Capture” method which, at times is a pain bc of things on the screen moving, etc..
When I try to use the combo keys method to try to capture a screenshot, I get four different “Direct Access” functions to chose from, none of which have anything to do with capturing a screenshot…
Is anybody else having this same problem after the latest Security Update? I have looked throughout *all* my settings and the “take a screenshot by using combo keys of the power key and volume up key” is no where to be found any more! The only setting/option for taking a screenshot is the “Palm Swipe to Capture a Screenshot”.

Update: I have also tried the “Home & Power Buttoms” as described in this article. This doesn’t work either. I just get the Google Pop-up window for help/search/speak….

    Anybody have any suggestions?
