Samsung Galaxy S6: Disable S Voice

Samsung Galaxy S6: Disable S Voice

By Mitch Bartlett 25 Comments

You can disable the S Voice feature on your Samsung Galaxy S6 if you don’t really care for the feature. Many users accidentally activate it by double-tapping the “Home” key and would like to prevent it from launching. You can turn it off with these steps.

Option 1

  1. Open “Apps” > “Settings” > “Application manager“.
  2. Swipe over to the “All” list.
  3. Scroll down and select “S Voice“.
  4. Tap the “Turn off” button.

Option 2

  1. Option “Apps” > “S Voice” or double-tap the “Home” button.
  2. Tap the Menu icon located at the upper-right portion of the screen.
  3. Uncheck the “Open via the home key” option.

The S Voice feature is now disabled and will no longer launch when you double-tap the Home button.

This post applies to models SM-G920F, SM-G920FQ, and SM-920I.

Canceling Voice Assistant when you are locked out:
To open the pw screen, swipe two fingers (note: half an inch apart from each other) over the screen.
To enter your password and get to the Voice Assistant settings, use a single tap to pre-select an item on the screen (for example, a character or an app) and then double-tap your pre-selection to confirm your selection.
    Good Luck!!

This is one of the worst features on my Note 5
VERY frustrating to turn off when accidently enabled.
Would be nice to ‘lock’ the enable button to off as it has turned itself on about 4 or 5 times now.
    Nuisance!

    MARGO’s way.
I found and easier way that bypasses all of S voice obstacles!
    1 Tap settings
    2 Tap voice icon
3 say “Vision”. When you see it…
    4 Tap “Vision”
5 Tap “Voice assistant ” and TURN THE DAMN THING TO “Off”

Hope this helps. It seem that every time something changes, like daylight savings… my galaxy 6 starts talking. I had to make a note on my iPad to remind me how to fix this without wasting hours.

To move down the page continually swipe to the right. To move up the page continually swipe to the left

New S6, inadvertently started “voice assistant”, now I can’t shut it off. Cannot access any of the phone controls, top will not drop down. Everything I touch gets a readout from the assistant and it Makes it difficult to use any of the apps.
