How to Hard and Soft Factory Reset: Huawei Sensa H715BL

How to Hard and Soft Factory Reset: Huawei Sensa H715BL

November 3, 2018 by Kat Armstrong Leave a Comment

Recently, the phone I had been using for a couple of years completely died. At the time, I did not have a lot of extra cash. I headed to WalMart to try and find something that would allow a few apps, take decent photos of all my grandkids and have a large enough screen for these old eyes to see well. Huawei had just released the Sensa H715BL to the world as one of their “lower end” models (at the time). The store had it in stock for just over $150. It was a bit out of my budget, but I was convinced after reading reviews. Sure, I wish I had a beloved iPhone still, or even the newest Samsung Galaxy phone, but this little baby has served me well. It has taken literally thousands of photos (hey… I have SEVEN gorgeous grandkids!) and handled everything I have needed to do with ease – most of the time.

As with any piece of technology, my Hauwei Sensa has had a few minor issues along the way. I have had to perform both a hard and soft factory reset a couple of times. Even for a tech guru like myself, the process was not completely intuitive. I know that this phone is still in circulation, as Straight Talk sold a LOT of them when they were first launched – and I have learned that they are still selling quite well as used models. I thought it would be a beneficial idea for me to lay out the steps to perform a factory reset for those of you who may need a bit of help. If your phone is sluggish, happens to blue (or black) screen or is giving you small errors, following one of these processes should help instantly.

Soft Reset Method

When the device freezes, you can usually fix it by doing the soft reset method. This is very quick and easy: hold down the Power button while also holding down the “Volume Down” button. Keep holding them both down until the phone screen goes blank and shuts itself off. Release the two buttons, wait a few seconds and then hold down your “Power” button to turn the phone back on as normal. If this does not resolve your issues or will not shut down this way, you will need to continue reading to perform a hard reset.

First Hard Reset Method

  • Turn on your device.
  • Open up your “Settings“.
  • Scroll down to “Advanced Settings“
  • At the bottom of the screen, choose “Backup and Reset“
  • If you already have not, be sure to backup all of your data first by choosing the first option
  • Next, click “Factory Data Reset” at the bottom
  • Now choose “Reset Phone“
  • Confirm your choice by hitting the “Erase Everything” button
  • When this process has completed, restart your phone.

Second Hard Reset Method

In the case this does not work or you are not able to get to the proper screens to perform a soft reset, you will need to follow these steps to force your phone into a hard factory reset by placing your device into recovery mode.

  • Turn off your phone completely
  • Once fully shut down, hold down both the power button and the volume up button
  • ONLY release these two buttons when the Huawei logo appears
  • Next, use the volume up button to navigate the menu and select the “Wipe Data / Factory Reset” menu
  • Confirm your choice by pushing the power button
  • The device will make you confirm it once more by choosing “Yes“
  • Use the power button to choose the “Reboot System Now” option
